Why Bet On Florida?

Why should you be on the Gators in this intriguing Week 9 SEC showdown? There are a handful of great reasons, starting with the fact that Florida has a bunch of momentum going right now, having won five straight games coming into this contest, including an impressive 37-27 win over Vanderbilt last weekend that helped them cash in as 9.5-point road favorites. Quarterback Feleipe Franks passed for 284 yards with two touchdowns and one interception and running backs Lamical Perine (121 yards) and Jordan Scarlett (113 yards) both topped the century mark and added one rushing score apiece. The Gators overcame a 21-3 deficit to keep their playoff and SEC championship hopes alive.

“Mistakes happen in football,” Scarlett said. “It’s how you fight through adversity and how you respond, and I think we responded really well.”

Another great reason to back the Gators is that they have a terrific defense that limits the opposition to just 16.6 points per game to rank 15th nationally in points allowed. Last but not least, Florida has the revenge factor working in their favor seeing as how they’d like nothing better than to dish out some payback for last season’s embarrassing 42-7 home blowout loss to the Bulldogs.

Why Bet On Georgia?

Is Georgia a safe bet to win in NCAA Football Week 9?

Why should you back the Bulldogs in this huge Week 9 matchup? There are a handful of excellent reasons, starting with the fact that previously second-ranked Georgia is going to be highly-motivated after getting smacked around by LSU 36-16 last weekend. Jake Fromm was limited to 209 passing yards with one touchdown and two costly interceptions and the Bulldogs lost a pair of fumbles in the stunning defeat.

“They did a good job with some third-down crazy stuff, some one-hit-wonder stuff. But we kind of got ourselves in a mess with the third-and-longs,” Fromm said. “I don’t know. We made some plays. I think they made more plays. We just really couldn’t string them all together.”

Another great reason to back Georgia is that they are statistically better than Florida on both sides of the ball in averaging a stellar 39.0 points per game (19th) and allowing just 16.3 points per contest defensively (13th). Not only is Georgia playing at home in this contest, but there’s also the fact that the Dawgs dominated Florida a year ago and are a more cohesive team with Florida head coach Dan Mullen in just his first season with the Gators.

NCAAF Betting Prediction for Florida vs Georgia

Florida beat LSU 27-19 in Week 6 while Georgia lost to the same Tigers squad in their last contest. Still, those matchups against an identical opponent don’t lead me to think that Florida is better than Georgia. I know the Gators have gone 5-0 ATS in their last 5 games overall and 4-0 ATS in their last 4 conference games, but Georgia is 5-0 ATS in their last 5 neutral site games and 6-2 ATS in their last 8 games against a team with a winning record.

While this matchup looks like a game that could go either way, I’m going to back Georgia to get the touchdown win to narrowly cover the chalk.
