2021 Frisco Football Classic Bowl Betting: Miami(OH) vs North Texas Odds

2021 Frisco Football Classic Bowl Betting: Miami(OH) vs North Texas Odds

There’s a lot to like about North Texas in the inaugural Frisco Football Classic, a bowl game that was just created so every eligible team could get a ‘postseason’ berth. The Mean Green come into this game on a five-game win streak, not to mention making just a short 40-minute trek from their campus in Denton, Texas, over to Frisco.

The Miami RedHawks, of course, aren’t just going to lay down in this one, scoring 33+ points in each of their final four games of the season powered by a passing attack that was in the top 20 in the country (282.8 yards/game). That’s enough to make Miami (Ohio) a -3 point favorite even with all the intangibles seemingly going against them. Let’s take a closer look at the upcoming match between Miami (OH) and North Texas so you can bet against the College Football Bowl odds

NCAAF Betting Analysis for Miami (OH) RedHawks Vs North Texans Mean Green – Frisco Football Classic Odds

Is North Texas Defense for Real?

The Mean Green might be playing in a much more prestigious bowl game if not for their 1-6 start to the season. That poor performance out of the gates can be blamed on a very leaky defense, giving up 500+ yards to SMU, 300+ rush yards to Missouri, 470+ total yards to Marshall, and 305 passing yards to Liberty – all UNT losses.

To their credit, North Texas has rebounded, shoring up their defense and continuing to improve on offense en route to a five-game win streak to close out the year. The Mean Green scored 45+ in each of their last two games of the regular season, running for 300+ yards in both games. DeAndre Torrey and Ikaika Ragsdale both have 100+ yards in those games and have combined for eight rushing TDs.

Points Aplenty for Miami OH

It was a very Jekyll and Hyde type season for the North Texas defense, who gave up 35+ points five times during their 1-6 start to the season but have clamped down to hold four of the last five opponents to 17 or less. That will get tested in the Frisco Football Classic against a Miami of Ohio team that has posted 45+ in two of their last three games of the regular season.

Brett Gabbert is the driver of this offense that averaged 29.1 points per game on the year. He threw for 350+ in three of the final four games of the regular season and had 15 TD passes over that span.

In the regular season finale, Miami of Ohio gave up 48 points to Kent State, with the Golden Flashes compiling 642 yards of total offense.

North Texas vs Miami (Ohio) Pick

North Texas has to stop the pass; Miami of Ohio has to stop the run. Which team accomplishes that will be crowned the 2021 Frisco Football Classic champion.

Ultimately, the fact that the Mean Green are playing so close to their campus gives them an edge. So does the fact that this is a team playing their fifth bowl game in six seasons under coach Seth Littrell – they know this act.

Pick: North Texas +3
