Georgia At Ole Miss College Football Expert Predictions

Written by on September 22, 2016

If you are a fan of the SEC, then it’s time to get excited, as we are about to head into conference play in a pretty big way. There has been a lot of talk about the conference being on a bit of a downward slide over the last couple of seasons, but put any team from any other conference in there, and you can guarantee that they would struggle to get out alive. We are just 3 weeks into the season, and the Ole Miss Rebels are already behind the 8-ball. They come into this weekend with a 1-2 record, and are coming off a gut wrenching loss to the Alabama Crimson Tide that has made their SEC West division hopes a little less bright. They have another tough go of it this weekend with the Georgia Bulldogs coming to town. They are a team in transition under new head coach Kirby Smart, but they are proving to be a resilient bunch capable of gutting out wins through the opening weeks of the season. The Rebels come into this one as a 7-point online betting favorite.

Why bet on the Georgia Bulldogs

The Georgia Bulldogs are 3-0 on the season, but the way they have arrived at that record has not been very pretty. They utilized both QB’s in a come from behind win in Week 1, and then handed the ball off to 5-star freshman Jacob Eason to lead them to tight wins against Nicholls State and Missouri. The win over the Tigers last week may have firmly established the young QB as the starter, as he led the team on a late TD drive to get the win, and tossed for over 300 yards. The Dawgs still need more out of their running game, though, as that will help take a lot of the pressure off of Eason. If they can establish the run this weekend, they have a shot at getting the win.

Why bet on the Ole Miss Rebels

The Rebels are turning into something of a Jekyll and Hyde team this season, saving their ugly side for the second half of games. This is a team that could just as easily be 3-0 instead of 1-2, but that have been taken apart in the second half in games against Florida State and Alabama. This makes you wonder about the fragility of this team, and what might happen to them if Nick Chubb starts to do a little downhill running in the second half of this one. The Rebels are too talented to have these types of issues, and it’s only a matter of time before they put together a complete game performance. Will this weekend be when it happens?

Expert Pick and Final Score Prediction

Before making a score prediction, I have to say that the standout bet here is the UNDER 62. These teams have met 8 times since 1992, and 7 of those went UNDER, including all 4 games played in Mississippi. I like the Rebels to get the win here, but I think it might be a little tighter than expected.
