The Schedule Starts with a Challenge

While many power programs throughout the country start with a cupcake to open their season, the LSU Tigers do not. In fact, the LSU Tigers are in one of the elite games to start the season. LSU gets Florida State in the Camping World Kickoff on Sunday, September 3rd.

That will see where both teams are on the national title map right away. The Tigers have Grambling State following that and then go on the road to start their SEC play. A trip to Starkville, Mississippi, to take on the Bulldogs kicks it off.

Then, LSU comes home to take on Arkansas before finishing the month of September in Oxford against Ole Miss. Two trips to Mississippi have Brian Kelly putting that on his players’ radar.

Back-to-back road games is tough in the SEC, and that’s what they go with a trip to Missouri to start October. Then, the Tigers stay home for two games, with Auburn and Army, before going to Tuscaloosa to take on the Crimson Tide of Alabama on November 4th. LSU finishes the regular season with a trio of home games, taking on Florida, Georgia State, and Texas A+M.

Tigers are +1500 to Win the National Title

While oddsmakers love the talent Brian Kelly has built-in LSU, this seems to be a tough ask. The road schedule is not an easy one for the Tigers, and getting to the game is going to be a tough ask.

The Tigers are going to have to beat Alabama on the road and then probably Georgia, with only one slip-up along the way. The Tigers are decent value at +1500 if you trust them to navigate through that.

Only Georgia, Alabama, Ohio State, Michigan, and USC are ahead of them as favorites.

LSU is +500 to Win the SEC title game

If the Tigers just had two road games in Mississippi and had Alabama at home, this would still be considered a pretty rough go at it. But they have all three on the road. The home schedule is something the Tigers can navigate, but playing on the road is the biggest concern here.

If they get to the SEC title game and have to play someone like Georgia, Kelly will take his team’s chances. Getting there is the battle. LSU is behind Georgia at -110 and Alabama at +270 to win the SEC title game.

SEC West Underdogs at +230

This makes sense. If Alabama is the favorite to win the SEC title game, they are going to be the favorite to win the West. It’s not that far off, though, as Alabama is -120, and the Tigers are +230. If they get to that November 4th game both unbeaten, this is going to be one of the best College Football matchups of the season.

Can LSU Get to 10 Wins?

This is a question you got to ask yourself. If you look at the schedule, Grambling State, Army, and Georgia State are the three games you have no worries about. Then, after that, there are too many question marks to be too confident about.

The question remains – how good can Jayden Daniels be under center for the Tigers? The Tigers were a surprise winning the SEC West a season ago, but will they be able to sneak up on anyone this season? Logan Diggs transferred in from Notre Dame this fall to help with the running back situation. He ran for over 800 yards a season ago.

Harold Perkins is one of the top defensive players in all of College Football, and Greg Penn III returns after an outstanding 2022 season. The defense should be legitimate, especially if Maason Smith can return to his talented selt after his knee injury a season ago.

This all brings us back to the – can they get to 10 wins?
