The college football bowl games were pared down to 40 teams, and with thousands of words of preamble out of the way, it’s time to focus our attention on the top games to watch this week. As always, the immediately before-and-after Christmas games don’t get much attention since most people are usually busy with shopping and partying, but that doesn’t mean we won’t be having games that are worthy of your attention. For all you die-hard College football betting enthusiasts who can still afford time to partake of this week’s bowl servings, here are the must-watch games you can’t dare miss…

Georgia Southern vs. Bowling Green, December 23rd at 8 pm ET, ESPN

The Georgia Southern Eagles are bowling for the first time in the program’s history, making this game a big eye-candy for the school supporters and the residents of Georgia, at large. After collecting six national FCS championships in two decades, the Eagles are certainly no rookies when it comes to flying high in big games. It, however, remains to be seen if the Eagles will have a solution to the problematic Bowling Green, who come into this game as this year’s MAC champions. With top five national rankings in scoring (43.4), passing (376 yards a game) and total yards (561 yards a game), stopping Matt Johnson (4700 yards and 43 touchdowns against just eight interceptions) and the Falcons will unquestionably not be easy. The onus will thus be on the run-first Matt Breida (189-1540 yards and 16 TDs) and his friends to give a very spirited performance, or else they could be on the end of a big loss. Best Pick: The Green Army does what it does best—bowl—en route to a solid win over zealous Southerners, though the Eagles will fly close and keep things entertaining to the very end of the game.

Middle Tennessee vs. Western Michigan, Thursday, December 24 at 12 pm ET, ESPN

The Blue Raiders finished their season in emphatic style, winning their last four in a row and putting up 69 points combined in their last two games of the season. The hope for Middle Tennessee fans is that this offense will continue to hum loudly against the Broncos. That, however, won’t be an easy task, as they face a Broncos team that beat a top-25 team for the first time in the program’s history and is boasting of potently balanced offense that can wreak serious havoc in both the passing game and the running game. You can therefore expect a shootout to erupt between these two teams, with both of them racking up mega yardages and fighting all the way down the wire in the fourth quarter. Best Pick: Both teams combine for a high-scoring OVER affair in a highly entertaining affair, with the Broncos managing to just about eke out a win due to their slightly better pass defense.

Miami (FL) vs. Washington State, Saturday, December 26 at 2 pm ET, CBS

Since suffering the embarrassing 58-0 defeat at the hands of the number one team in the country, the Clemson Tigers, a loss that saw Coach Al Golden get fired; the Hurricanes have bounced back nicely by winning four of their last five and are hoping to stay hot by emerging victorious in this bowl. Washington State equally boasts of a great run of results entering this game, having won eight of its last ten to claim a postseason berth, and are also hoping to close out the season in winning ways. Something will therefore have to give when the two teams clash on Saturday. Winning-wise, nothing is guaranteed here. You can however guarantee this—given the Cougars offense is talented enough to record points-a-plenty and racking up big yardages, and the fact that the Hurricanes have a young quarterback that can take full advantage of Washington State’s a porous defense; this game will feature a lot of action and scores that will make the watch worth your while. Best Pick: Both teams combine for an exploded game total that pays OVER bettors.

Indiana vs. Duke, Saturday, December 26 at 3:30 pm ET, ABC

Besides the fact that these two teams come from big-name football (and basketball) programs in the nation, both the Blue Devils and Hoosiers showed lots of poise down the stretch this season, hence making their clash a worthy spectacle. And if none of those reasons is appealing to you, then simply keep your eyes out for Indiana’s star running back Jordan Howard, who will back to the starting lineup after missing the regular-season finale due to an injury. Best Pick: Howard powers the Hoosiers to an oh-so-close victory over the hard-fighting Blue Devils.

UCLA vs. Nebraska, Saturday, December 26th at 9.15 pm ET, ESPN

After all the hype about five-star recruit QB Josh Rosen and him being the solution to UCLA’s national championship drought, the Bruins find themselves playing in a lowly bowl game against the 5-7 Nebraska Cornhuskers. But then again, the Cornhuskers played quite well in their big games against top-top-tier opponents, losing marginally to Wisconsin, Northwestern and Wisconsin, while upsetting the now third-ranked Michigan State Spartans. The Bruins, meanwhile, suffered losses to a good number of low-level teams, and couldn’t even hang close in the de facto Pac-12 South title game. This sets up an interesting game, offering the possibilities of UCLA living up to its hype or Nebraska rising to the occasion to upset the NCAA Football odds. Best Pick: Nebraska plays heartedly to cover the spread, or even to deliver an upset SU win over UCLA.
