NCAAF 2022 SEC Championship Betting Favorites: Alabama, Georgia, and Texas A&M

NCAAF 2022 SEC Championship Betting Favorites: Alabama, Georgia, and Texas A&M

The SEC is the best conference in college football, and there’s no way to argue against that. An SEC school has won five of the last seven national championships. Alabama and Georgia are now known as the top two programs in the nation, and this year looks to be no different. The SEC does have some other good teams that could challenge the Tide and the Dawgs for SEC supremacy. Let’s take a look at some of the NCAA Conference Tournaments Odds favorites to win the SEC title this season.

Who Do The Oddsmakers Think Will Win the SEC in 2022?

Alabama Crimson Tide

Nick Saban’s squad is the favorite to win the SEC this season, as the oddsmakers have made them a -130 to win the conference title. Saban doesn’t take losing lightly, and the Georgia Bulldogs beat Alabama in last year’s National Championship game.

Last year’s Heisman Trophy winner, Bryce Young, returns to lead a high-powered Alabama offense. Even though the Tide lost some key pieces from last year’s squad, Alabama just continues to reload. They have one of the top recruiting classes in the country, plus they have brought in some very good prospects through the transfer portal.

Will Anderson, a Heisman sleeper, will lead the Crimson Tide defense. The Tide should have one of the top defensive squads in the country. If Anderson can stay healthy, he’ll be surrounded by numerous talented players.

It’s hard to imagine not seeing Alabama in the SEC Title game.

Georgia Bulldogs

The defending champions lost a ton of talent from last year’s team. They had 15 players drafted, but Kirby Smart hit the transfer portal hard and did a great job of recruiting. The SEC East isn’t particularly strong, so it should be Georgia’s to lose. We anticipate another Georgia vs. Alabama rematch in the SEC title game, and the loser will still probably have a great shot at earning a playoff berth.

Stetson Bennett will return to lead the Georgia offense. He’ll have a pair of star tight ends to throw to, so the offense should be in good hands. We’ll see if Bennett can continue to play well, or if he doesn’t, will his replacement spark the offense?

Defensively, despite losing a good portion of the starters from last season’s historic defense, Georgia should be stellar on this side of the ball once again. Led by Jalen Carter and Nolan Smith, the defense should be one of the best in the country again.

At a +150, Georgia comes in behind Alabama to win the SEC. We have a hard time seeing another team unseating either one of them to win their division.

Texas A&M Aggies

Is this finally the year that Jimbo Fisher and Texas A&M wins the SEC? Fisher thinks that he has the team to contend with Georgia and Alabama. The Aggies have the top recruiting class in the country coming in. They do have to take a trip to Tuscaloosa, so if they can win there, the SEC title would be an attainable goal. Before Kirby Smart beat Alabama, Fisher was the only former Alabama assistant to beat Nick Saban. In order to win the SEC, he’ll have to do it again this season.  If not, it’ll be another disappointing season in the Jimbo Fisher era at Texas A&M.

The Aggies have the third-best odds of winning the SEC at +1400. That tells you how much the oddsmakers favor the Tide and the Bulldogs.
