Wisconsin Badgers @ Ohio State Buckeyes
The two teams that were favored to win their divisions will meet up in Columbus on Saturday. The Buckeyes are undefeated and have looked good in all three victories. They opened up the season with a strong win over Notre Dame. They then demolished Arkansas State and Toledo. They’ve outscored their opponents 143-33.
With CJ Stroud at the helm, and a strong arsenal of offensive weapons, the Buckeyes have one of the best offenses in college football. Defensively, they had issues last season. Ryan Day brought in Jim Knowles from Ohio State to shape things up. So far, it looks like the move has paid off.
The Wisconsin Badgers got off to a good start this season against Illinois State. They fell to Washington State in Week 2 and then dominated New Mexico State 66-7 last week. The loss to Washington State was a stunner, and maybe the wake-up call was needed.
Wisconsin will need to have a strong running game that can run the clock against Ohio State. If they can’t keep the Buckeye’s offense off of the field, it could lead to a long day.
The Ohio State Buckeyes have been made an early 17-point favorite in this one. In their last 13 games, the Badgers are 3-10 against the spread against teams with a winning record. After this one, we think that they’ll be 3-11. Ohio State will be too strong for the Badgers. Wisconsin’s defense won’t have an answer for the powerful offense of the Buckeyes.
Kansas State Wildcats @ Oklahoma Sooners
This one should be interesting. The Oklahoma Sooners have been mauling their opponents, with their latest victim being their old rivals, the Nebraska Cornhuskers. Kansas State started the season off 2-0, as they beat South Dakota, and then Missouri. The Wildcats thought for sure they’d be 3-0 after last week, but the Green Wave of Tulane had something else in mind, as they beat the Wildcats 17-10.
So with Kansas State coming off of a bad loss, now they get to go to Norman to take on the Sooners. With victories over UTEP, Kent State, and Nebraska, the Sooners have started the season off 3-0. They’ve shown everyone how strong their running game is, and when you play against a Brent Venables defense, you’re going to have to bring your “A” game.
We just can’t see the Kansas State Wildcats being able to hang around with Oklahoma. If the game was in Manhattan, we think they’d have a shot, but we don’t see it happening on the road. The Sooners are just too talented for Kansas State. Oklahoma is 5-1 against the spread in their last six games at home. After this week, we’re going to say that it’s going to be 6-1. The Sooner Schooner will be busy on Saturday, as the Sooners will put up a wagon load of points.
