No. 1 Alabama at No. 19 Mississippi

Analysis:
If I’ve said it once, I’ve said it a thousand times. The Rebels are going to beat No. 1 Alabama for the third straight season. I’ve been saying all summer that Ole Miss would somehow find way to beat the clearly superior Alabama Crimson Tide for the third straight season and I’m going to stick to my guns, although the Tide have looked really good through two games.
I know Alabama has gone 7-2 ATS in its last nine games and 4-1 ATS in its last five games on the road, but for some reason, Ole Miss coach Hugh Freeze apparently has counterpart Nick Saban’s number down cold. Mississippi Rebels has won 10 of its last 11 home games and is 7-3 ATS in its last 10 home dates. More importantly, if Chad Kelly can light up an Alabama defense last season that was better than the current version, what makes anyone think he can’t do it again?

Baylor at Rice

NCAA Odds: Baylor -30
Analysis:
Okay, okay, this really isn’t a bold prediction, but I’m fully expecting Baylor to have the game fully in hand by the time halftime rolls around. Rice (0-2 SU, 0-2 ATS) has lost two games by a combined average of 24.5 points per game and simply doesn’t have enough talent to keep this game against Baylor close.
The Owls are coming off a humbling 31-14 loss against Army in Week 2 while Baylor (2-0 SU, 0-2 ATS) remained unbeaten by pounding SMU in their commanding 40-13 Week 2 win. Simply put, bank on the Baylor Bears to get ‘er done!
My Pick: Baylor 56 Rice 17
Temple +8.5 at Penn State
When: Saturday, September 17, 2016 at 12:00 PM ETWhere: Happy Valley, PA
Analysis:
The Owls and Nittany Lions have both lost one game coming into this contest, but I’m going to say that Temple gets the road ATS cover at the very least. The owls have a great head coach in Vern Rhule and a gifted running back in Jahad Thomas. I know Penn State has a gifted running back of their own in Saquon Barkley, but I’m not real fond of Nittany Lions head coach James Franklin and I believe the Owls could win outright because of their huge coaching edge.
My Pick: Penn State 30 Temple 28
No. 2 Florida State at No. 10 Louisville +3.5
When: Saturday, September 17, 2016 at 12:00 PM ETWhere: Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium
TV: ABC
Analysis:
Florida State has the edge in overall roster talent and they have a gifted quarterback in Deondre Francois that looks like a sure-fire NFL performer at some point in the near future. However, I like Louisville to get the SU win and ATS cover in this Week 3 matchup for three reasons.
First, I expect Lamar Jackson to be the best player on the field in this contest. Second, the Cardinals are playing at home and last but not least, Louisville has a really good head coach in Bobby Petrino, no matter what you may think about him morally.
Florida State has won two straight in this series, but I see no reason why the Cardinals can’t pull off the ‘upset’ at home.

Oregon Ducks at Nebraska Cornhuskers
When: Saturday, September 17, 2016 at 3:30 PM ETWhere: Memorial Stadium
NCAAF Odds: Nebraska Cornhuskers -2.5 / TV: ABC
Analysis:
I’m not real high on Nebraska because of Tommy Armstrong’s often inconsistent ways, but I’m also not quite as high on Oregon as I have been in the past.Having said that, I’m going to urge you to back Nebraska to get the win and ATS cover by the slimmest of margins, mostly because they’re playing at home and Armstrong Jr. looks more polished and consistent than he ever has.
While Oregon has gone 22-5 ATS in their last 27 road games, the Ducks are also a winless 0-4 ATS in their last four games and will be facing a Cornhuskers team that has gone 5-2 ATS in their last seven games against a team with a winning record and 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games overall. The Ducks don’t have a very good defense right now and I expect Nebraska to score their fair share of points because of it.
