Updated National Championship Odds After Week 5

Written by on October 5, 2022

Now that we are over a full month of action during the College Football regular season, we are beginnin.g to weed out the pretenders and the contenders for the National Championship We are going to discuss the favorites and why they should be considered as a great chance to win some extra money with a future bet.

Ohio State Buckeyes +172

The Ohio State Buckeyes are currently the odds-on favorite to win the National Championship this season as they are 5-0 with a 2-0 record in the Big Ten Conference. Despite being the favorite right now, they are the third-ranked program entering this week. They have been dominant throughout the season as they are leading the nation with 48.8 points per game. They have one of the top quarterbacks in the nation in junior quarterback C.J. Stroud as he has an 18:2 touchdown-to-interception ratio. However, they have always been known as a great offensive team.

The difference this year is they are one of the best defensive teams as well. They are allowing just 14.8 points per game and are led on the defensive side of things by senior defensive end Javontae Jean-Baptiste as he has a pair of sacks and a forced fumble, though the defense does more as a unit than their individual parts.

Alabama Crimson Tide +183

You shouldn’t be shocked to see the top-ranked Alabama Crimson Tide right here, and it makes sense as they are averaging 55.7 points scored in their last three games. They have junior quarterback Bryce Young under center, but he is up in the air right now as he suffered a shoulder strain last week and is considered day-to-day right now. This ‘Bama team is still full of dominant offensive figures and will not be outcoached with Nick Saban at the helm.

Alabama is also the fifth-best defense, as they are allowing 11 points on 236.4 total yards per game. They are winning in the trenches here as they have a total of 15 sacks as a team, which is being led by junior linebacker Will Anderson Jr as he has five sacks himself and the only interception the defense has forced thus far.

Georgia Bulldogs +184

It’s extremely difficult to say that this Georgia Bulldogs team is not more dominant this season then they were last year when they won the National Championship. Senior quarterback Stetson Bennett has been doing extremely well as he is in the top-10 in both passing yards and QBR, as the program has better receivers this season. They are scoring well as they are averaging 39 points on 521.4 total yards per game.

They have been one of the best defensive programs as they are giving up 10.8 points and allowing just 89.2 rushing yards per game, eliminating that aspect of the opposing offense. They are good against the pass as well as the defense has produced 15 pass deflections as well as six interceptions to make things a little easier for them.
