NCAAF Matches To Must Wager On Wednesday

Toledo at Bowling Green (+10.5)

These schools are located just 26 miles apart in the Battle of I-75. Bowling Green (3-6, 1-4 MAC) is coming off a 56-44 win at Buffalo on Oct. 30, while Toledo lost 52-49 to Eastern Michigan on Nov. 2.  Redshirt freshman quarterback Dequan Finn had the most prolific night of his career, passing for a career-best 461 yards and three touchdowns.

The Rockets tallied 672 yards of offense vs. EMU, their most in a game since accumulating 679 yards of offense against Tulsa on Sept. 16, 2017. Finn’s 461 passing yards tied for second-most ever by a Toledo quarterback with Bruce Gradkowski, who threw for 461 yards against Pittsburgh in 2003.

Bowling Green had seven scoring drives of three plays or less at Buffalo. Entering the game, they only had two such scoring drives combined on the season. The seven touchdown drives took 4:04 of the game clock, while the rest of the drives for BGSU (1 TD, 6 punts) took 17:05 of game clock. Kicker Needham is 14-of-14 on field goal attempts this season. He is one of eight FBS players who is perfect on the year, but his 14 made field goals rank No. 1 in the nation among those who are perfect.

Toledo leads the all-time series 41-40-4 and has won 10 of the past 11. The Rockets won easily in the Glass Bowl last year, 38-3. The road team is 5-2-1 ATS in the past eight meetings.

Ball State at Northern Illinois (+2.5)

Northern Illinois (6-3, 4-1 MAC) saw its five-game winning streak snapped at Kent State last Wednesday as the Golden Flashes claimed a 52-47 victory in a contest that featured 1,345 yards of total offense, 63 first downs and 171 offensive plays. Huskie freshman Trayvon Rudolph broke the Mid-American Conference and NIU records for receiving yards in a game with 309 yards on 14 catches at Kent State; his total ranks 18th all-time in NCAA history (FBS).

Ball State (5-4, 3-2 MAC) won last Tuesday 31-25 over Akron. Receiver Justin Hall touched the ball 14 times through four different ways and scored two different ways. Hall scored on a 25-yard run in the first quarter and a 13-yard reception in the second quarter to help Ball State build a 28-10 lead. He accounted for three first downs from scrimmage, returned a kickoff 24 yards and a punt nine yards. Hall is averaging 136.9 all-purpose yards per game, good for 16th-most in the country. At 5,223 yards, the fifth-year needs just 115 all-purpose yards to break Dante Love’s (2005-08) program record of 5,337. Hall has caught a pass in all of his 52 career games play. He needs just two more games catching a pass to tie Central Michigan’s Bryan Anderson (2006-09) for the most consecutive games catching a pass with 54 in NCAA history.

NIU and Ball State meet for the 49th time all-time, and for the 25th consecutive season, every year since 1997. NIU owns a 24-22-2 edge in the all-time series, but Ball State has won each of the last two games, including a 31-25 win in Muncie in 2020. NIU is 8-1 ATS in the past nine meetings.

Kent State at Central Michigan (-2.5)

Kent State is 5-4, 4-1 MAC and leads the East Division. CMU is 5-4, 3-2 and one game behind West-leading Northern Illinois.

Kent State comes off a 52-47 victory over Northern Illinois last week. The Flashes rolled up nearly 700 yards of offense and had all seven touchdown drives last under 2:00. Kent State now has 22 touchdown drives under two minutes this season. Dustin Crum threw for 322 yards and two scores and ran for 72 more and two scores in the victory. It moved him over 8,000 yards of offense in his career and were his 45th and 46th touchdown passes for his career.

The Flashes ran for 360 yards in the win over the Huskies with both Marquez Cooper and Xavier Williams going over 100 yards in the win. Kent State now has three of the top-12 rushers in the MAC in Cooper, Williams and Crum.

CMU running back Lew Nichols III leads the MAC and ranks fifth nationally with 1,082 rushing yards. He has surpassed 100 yards in each of his past four games. His total over that stretch is 677 yards (6.32 per carry) with five TDs.

The Chippewas hold a 24-11 advantage in the all-time series with Kent State. CMU and Kent State have only met once at Kelly/Shorts Stadium since 2005, a KSU 27-24 victory in 2016. The last meeting between CMU and the Golden Flashes was a 42-23 Chippewa road victory in 2017. The favorite is 5-1 ATS in the past six meetings

Expert Parlay Picks: >Back Bowling Green, Northern Illinois and CMU against the spread.
