NCAAF Week 6 Straight Up Picks & Betting Lines

Written by on October 2, 2017

We are 5 weeks into the 2017 college football season, and there are some clear favorites starting to emerge. There are a couple of teams, such as Alabama and Clemson, who we expected to be in this position, but there are several more who are showing that they may be able to break up the monopoly that the Tigers and the Crimson Tide have had on the National Championship Game over the last two seasons, and they are ready to prove it in NCAAF Week 6. Be sure to check the latest College Football odds during the week, it’s never too early to start looking ahead, and as always, we have put together some straight up picks to get the ball rolling. I will, once again, try to steer clear of the potential blowout games here, as I go in search of some value in the games featuring ranked opponents going head to head, although there are only a couple of those this weekend.

NCAAF Week 6 Straight Up Picks & Betting Lines

2018 NCAA FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP ODDS TO WIN

Louisville Cardinals over North Carolina State Wolfpack

Opening odds: Louisville -4 While Thursday nights are usually set aside for NFL action, we actually have a very good college football match-up on tap, too. The Louisville Cardinals appear to have righted the ship after getting pounded by Clemson in Week 3 and have reeled off back to back wins against lesser opponents, racking up points and playing better defensively in the process. NC State may still have been celebrating their big win over Florida State this past weekend, as they made tough work of getting past Syracuse. This is one that might stay close through the first three-quarters, but I believe Louisville will pull away late to get the win.

Latest NCAAF Week 6 Betting Trends

  • Louisville is 4-1 SU in its last 5 games
  • North Carolina State is 6-1 SU in its last 7 games
  • Louisville is 4-1 SU in its last 5 games on the road
  • Louisville is 4-1 SU in its last 5 games when playing North Carolina State

Georgia Bulldogs over Vanderbilt Commodores

Opening odds: Georgia -17.5 It’s still way too early to talk about the SEC Championship Game, but that three-quarters fans and pundits drooling over the prospect of an Alabama/Georgia match-up. The SEC has been crying out for a contender to the Crimson Tide for years, and the Bulldogs look like they might fit the bill this season. Georgia is a dominant force on the defensive side of the football, and over the past 2 weeks they have faced Mississippi State and Tennessee, and have only given up a combined 3 points. Add to that the fact that they racked up 72 points of offense and you can understand why Vandy look like lambs to the slaughter in Week 6.

  • Georgia is 5-0 SU in its last 5 games
  • Georgia is 5-1 SU in its last 6 games on the road
  • Vanderbilt is 2-4 ATS in its last 6 games
  • Georgia is 19-3 SU in its last 22 games when playing Vanderbilt
  • Georgia is 10-1 SU in its last 11 games when playing on the road against Vanderbilt
  • Vanderbilt is 5-2 SU in its last 7 games at home

TCU Horned Frogs over West Virginia Mountaineers

Opening odds: TCU -14 If you like your college football games with a lot of offense, then this may be the match-up for you this coming weekend. Both of these teams know how to get to the end zone, and both offenses will need to be at their best to get the win in this one. The majority of the pressure here is on the Mountaineers, as they know that one more loss will effectively end their slim hopes of a playoff spot. TCU is one of the favorites for NCAAF Week 6. TCU already has a big win over Oklahoma State under their belts, and another win against a ranked opponent should see them move up the rankings in a big way. My money is on the Horned Frogs at home, but pay attention to the OVER with this game, too.

Latest NCAAF Week 6 Betting Trends

  • West Virginia is 18-5 SU in its last 23 games
  • Texas Christian is 4-1 SU in its last 5 games
  • Texas Christian is 19-6 SU in its last 25 games at home

Alabama Crimson Tide over Texas A&M Aggies

Opening odds: Alabama -26.5 It seems ridiculous to talk about a potential trip-up game for the Alabama Crimson Tide, especially when you look at how they have dominated this season. In the last 2 weeks alone, they have beaten Vanderbilt and Ole Miss by a combined 125-3. Most people are expecting a similar result this coming weekend when Alabama goes in as a 24-point favorite over the Aggies. I don’t think we should be sleeping on Texas A&M, though. Their loss in Week 1 had everyone talking about how soon Kevin Sumlin was going to be fired, but they have quietly put together 4 straight wins since then. That streak comes to an end this weekend, but keep an eye on that spread.
