At this time of year, it’s natural to start thinking about March Madness and which team will be the eventual champion. Before we get to that point, though, there is still come business to attend to. While only one team can end the season as champion, there is still the consolation prize of winning the conference. With that in mind, we are going to look at the current state of the top 10 (according to NCAAB RPI Rankings & Ratings) to see who might end up the regular season champion in each. Check out MyBookie’s College Basketball betting odds for the 2023 Season.

Big 12
It’s about as tight as you can imagine right now, with Kansas, Texas, and Baylor all tied at 9-4, as well as 3 more teams within 2 games of the lead. It does seem as though Kansas is getting hot at the right time, and I think it will be between them and Baylor in the end.
SEC
It looks like a 2-horse race between Alabama and Texas A&M in the SEC, with the Crimson Tide up by a single game. The Aggies have all the momentum at the moment, winning 4 in a row, and they might just sneak it coming down the stretch.
Big Ten
This one looks to be pretty clear cut, as Purdue have a 2-game lead with time running out on the regular season. Given that they have only lost 3 games all year, I don’t see them surrendering that lead.
Mountain West
The San Diego State Aztecs are a game and a half up on Boise State and Nevada right now, and while they still have another meeting with the Broncos to come, I think it would be surprising of they gassed this lead coming down the stretch.
Big East
No less than 5 teams currently sitting in the top 25 overall, but it is the Marquette Golden Eagles who have a game and a half lead on the chasing pack. Creighton is the toughest matchup to come, so I like them to hold on and win the regular season title.
ACC
It’s about as tight as it gets right now, with just a single game separating the top 4 teams. The Pitt Panthers are in the groove right now, winning 6 in a row, but Miami has won 5 straight, too. These two meet in the final game of the season, which could be the decider.
PAC-12
The UCLA Bruins are rolling and have opened up a 1 ½ game lead at the top of the conference. They have a tough one coming against Arizona in their final game, but they may have locked things up by then.
WCC
It’s a 2-horse race between Saint Mary’s and Gonzaga, who are separated by a single game. These two have one more meeting to come, which may well decide who becomes the regular season champion.
CUSA
The Florida Atlantic Owls are the only team from this conference in the top 25, plus they have a 2-game lead to work with. North Texas are the closest challenger and have won 6 in a row, but I think that run is too little too late.
American
The Houston Cougars are the #2 ranked team in the nation and are 2 games up on the chasing pack. They have only lost once in conference play, so it’s tough to imagine they will go in the tank in the final couple of weeks.
