2020 ACM Awards Odds

Album of the Year

  • Maren Morris – Girl +200
  • Miranda Lambert – Wildcard +225
  • Thomas Rhett – Center Point Road +275
  • Luke Combs – What You See Is What You Get +400
  • Jon Pardi – Heartache Medication +700

The winner will be either Maren Morris with Girl, or Miranda Lambert with Wildcard. It’s difficult to see the Country Music Academy backing Rhett, Combs, or Pardi. Although Girl is a nice album, Miranda’s is darker and more with the times. Lambert wins.

ACM Awards Pick: Miranda Lambert – Wildcard

Entertainer of the Year

  • Carrie Underwood +225
  • Luke Bryan +275
  • Thomas Rhett +300
  • Luke Combs +350
  • Eric Church +350

Fans went nuts last year when Carrie Underwood lost to Garth Brooks for Entertainer of the Year. Garth is a dinosaur in the minds of many country music fans. Underwood is the now entertainer. She’s the name in country music. So, the Academy will right their 2019 wrong.

ACM Awards Pick: Carrie Underwood

Female Artist of the Year

  • Carrie Underwood +225
  • Maren Morris +275
  • Kacey Musgraves +300
  • Kelsea Ballerini +350
  • Miranda Lambert +350

The Country Music Academy likes to spread awards around. But Carrie figures to take this one as well after last year’s Entertainer of the Year snub.

ACM Awards Pick: Carrie Underwood

Male Artist of the Year

  • Thomas Rhett +225
  • Luke Combs +275
  • Keith Urban +300
  • Chris Stapleton +330
  • Dierks Bentley +350

Rhett will be hard to beat. His album, Center Point Road, is snappy and has a lot of songs that stick in your mind. Combs could win, but it’s hard to see the ACM looking past Thomas Rhett.

ACM Awards Pick: Thomas Rhett

Song of the Year

  • 10000 Hours (Dan + Shay – Justin Beiber) +225
  • God’s Country (Blake Shelton) +300
  • Girl Goin Nowhere (Ashley McBryde) +300
  • One Man Band (Old Dominion) +330
  • Some Of It (Eric Church) +350

10000 hours is a sappy song that sticks in your mind but doesn’t mean much. It’s the type of thing John Hughes would slap onto one of his 80’s flicks if Hughes had absolutely no edge.

Ashley McBryde’s song is a brilliantly simple tome about personal discovery. One Mand Band and Some Of It are in the same vein although Girl Goin Nowhere is better than either.

God’s Country is different. It’s a positive message in a world that’s gone just a bit mad. Blake Shelton takes this award.

ACM Awards Pick: God’s Country
