LoL LCS 2021 Spring Betting Preview for March 5th Matches

100 Thieves Vs Evil Geniuses – Friday, March 5 – 16:00 PST

100 Thieves got outclassed by Cloud9 last week largely due to their inability to close out the game and take advantage of the early lead they have gained. That, however, has been their Achilles heel for most of the season, granted it’s not as obvious when they’re facing mid- and bottom-table teams.

Evil Geniuses are still one of the most volatile teams in the league and it seems like they aren’t doing anything that would change that. The hyper-aggressive up-tempo play style has become synonymous with their brand which is not particularly bad since it allows them to surprise otherwise stronger teams, however, it also leaves doors wide open to suffer an upset loss against weaker sides.

Generally, it’s smarter to avoid betting on EG due to their unpredictability, but they become a far more appealing betting option when priced as underdogs. Most sportsbooks have EG priced at around 2.20 (+120) which is a good price in our book.

100 Thieves are not a particularly stable team and it’s not like they field better players than EG, so they shouldn’t be priced as such a big favorite. This match is a complete coin-toss, making EG a far better option at the offered odds. Alternatively, a bet on over 24.5 kills is also worth considering.

FlyQuest Vs Cloud9 – Friday, March 5 – 17:00 PST

FlyQuest and Cloud9 already met just over two weeks ago, when Cloud9 won with 16-6 in kills and a rather massive 12.1k gold lead. A lot has changed since, but it’s not like the balance of power has shifted in the other direction.

Cloud9 enter this match on a three-game winning streak which includes wins against Golden Guardians, Evil Geniuses and most recently 100 Thieves. In all of their games, Cloud9 won with relative ease and while we’re still very early into the season, it’s fair to say C9 look like the best team in the league.

While Cloud9 seem to be better and better with each passing week, FlyQuest look progressively worse. They have the potential to develop and blossom into playoffs contenders, but up to now, they have yet to show any progress.

Although FlyQuest beat TSM last round, that one win alone doesn’t mean much in the greater picture, as this team has a lot of issues to work on before we can start talking about their chances to upset either of the top-three teams. Generally, large kill handicaps should be avoided, but we can make an exception for games that have Cloud9 involved.

C9 have been averaging 16.15 kills and only six deaths in their wins, whereas FlyQuest are the type of team that wins big but loses hard with 17.17 kills and 6.83 deaths in wins, and 9.6 kills and 15.17 deaths in losses. We’re taking C9 to win with at least nine kills to spare.

Prediction: Cloud9 – 8.5 kills

Immortals Vs Counter Logic Gaming – Friday, March 5 – 19:00 PST

The betting odds show Immortals as 1.75 (-130) favorites which makes no sense. Although this team is more than capable of defeating even some of the strongest teams in the league, they’re equally capable of losing against the weakest squads from the region. In a way, IMT are just as volatile as EG, but they’re overall a far worse team.

Counter Logic Gaming have been flying under the radar for a while and we are slowly getting a glimpse of what this team will be capable of, now that they’ve finally assembled a full roster. Last week, they bested Dignitas in a fairly convincing fashion and have before that put up a solid fight against TSM, however, they ended up making a few crucial mistakes that cost them the win that day.

The stats might suggest IMT will win, but anyone watching the games can agree CLG are the most likely victors here. They might have a slip-up here and there, but approach their games far smarter and tend to be far less volatile than IMT.
