With the weekend approaching, it’s time to look forward to the second race of the 2021 Formula 1 season. This race was formerly known as the San Marino Grand Prix and will take place on the infamous Imola track, which was taken off the rotation back in 2006 due to safety concerns. The track has undergone some major upgrades and is hosting the F1 once again. For the opening race of the season in Bahrain, we saw defending champion Lewis Hamilton pick up right where he left off, and while some are already suggesting that he is a surefire bet to win it all again, we still have plenty of races to come this season. Let’s take a look at the favorites for this weekend so you can bet against their Formula 1 odds.

Lewis Hamilton (+125)

When you consider that Hamilton is usually in as an overwhelming favorite on every single race, and deservedly so, you have to say that the odds right now are really rather favorable. This is especially true when you consider how good he looked in the opening race of the season, as well as the fact that he won here last year. It is more than a little boring to take the easy road and simply pick Hamilton to win every single race, but until he stops dominating the sport, we are really left with very little choice but to do that.

Max Verstappen (+120)

It would be a pretty big upset if Hamilton did not win his record setting 8^th title this season, or would it? Max Verstappen is the driver who looks most likely to put in the strongest challenge to Hamilton this season, but only if he can finish races. That was an issue that he faced last season, as he was forced to retire from 5 races in a shortened 2020 season. When he does make it to the finish line, it is usually as a podium finisher. Verstappen is incredibly consistent and got his season off to a solid start with a 2^nd place finish in the first race of the year.

Valtteri Bottas (+650)

Bottas is in a bit of a strange position in that he is one of the drivers who could potentially be standing in the way of Hamilton winning his record setting 8^th world championship. The reason it’s strange is because he is Hamilton’s teammate at Mercedes. The season got off to a very familiar start for Bottas, who finished 3^rd at Bahrain in the opening weekend. He has spent the majority of his career playing second fiddle to Hamilton, but he is certainly good enough to take that next step. Can he start with a win in Italy this weekend?
