Formula 1 Hungarian GP Betting Odds & Predictions

The 2021 Formula 1 season may well have come to life at the British Grand Prix. It was beginning to look as though Max Verstappen was going to run away with the World Championship this season, but things took a rather dramatic turn in a single moment in the UK. Verstappen and Hamilton collided, with the Dutchman crashing and the Brit going on to take the checkered flag. It was a controversial moment made all the more dramatic by Hamilton celebrating wildly while Verstappen was in the hospital. In fairness to the defensing champion, he was apparently not aware of the condition of his rival, but that did not stop F1 fans from stating their disgust. That, though, has helped fire up the rivalry, which should make for great racing the rest of the way. This weekend, the drivers will be in Hungary for the next races, so let’s look at the favorites along with their Formula 1 odds.

Formula 1 Betting Analysis for the 2021 Hungarian Grand Prix

Max Verstappen (-115)

Verstappen saw his lead at the top of the driver standings cut down to 8 points after his crash in the British Grand Prix. It is going to be interesting to see how he bounces back in this one. He was perhaps fortunate to walk away without a serious injury, and while crashes are a part of the business of F1, it still has to be a little jarring. Being unable to finish the last race meant that Verstappen saw a 3-race win streak come to an end and now he returns to a track where he has yet to find a win. He has finished 2nd in each of his last 2 runs in Hungary, so it’s not as if he has been totally out of the picture.

Lewis Hamilton (+135)

With so much of the season still to come, it seems odd to call the British Grand Prix a must win for Hamilton, but that really was how it felt prior to the start of the race. For his part in the Verstappen crash, Hamilton was handed a 10-second penalty, but that was not enough to prevent him from getting the win. That was the 4th win of the season for Hamilton, and it has him right on the heels of Verstappen. If he gets the win again this weekend, then he will be back on top and in control of his own destiny. You would certainly like his chances here, as he has won 3 straight times in Hungary.

Sergio Perez & Valtteri Bottas (+1400)

You need only look at the odds to see that this battle for the World Championship has become a 2-horse race. Sergio Perez dropped to 5th in the standings after a poor showing in the British Grand Prix, finishing in 16th. That was his worst performance of the season, so he will be looking for better in Hungary, where he finished 7th last season. Bottas is back up in 4th and is on a good run of form, finishing on the podium in 3 straight races. His best finish in Hungary is 3rd, so he could certainly be in the mix this weekend.
