This Formula 1 season has been full of twists and turns, while also delivering a championship battle for the ages. All the talk heading into this season was about the probability of Lewis Hamilton winning his 8th World Championship and setting a record for most titles in the process. Given how he has performed over the past decade or so, many F1 fans saw another title as a bit of a foregone conclusion. It has proven to be anything but, though, as Max Verstappen has proven to be a worthy contender and the man most likely to play the role of spoiler. This weekend, the drivers will be in Austin, Texas for the US Grand Prix, which will be run on the fames Circuit of the Americas track. Verstappen is back on top in the driver standings, shifting the pressure back to Hamilton. How will the defending champion react to needing to come from behind again? We will find out soon enough, but for now, let’s take a look at the odds for the 2021 US Grand Prix so you can get ready to bet against the Formula 1 odds.
Formula 1 Betting Analysis for the Aramco United States Grand Prix 2021 Race
Lewis Hamilton (-120)
While COVID led to the US Grand Prix being on the list of cancelled events last year, this is a race with some history. We will get to how Hamilton has performed there in just a moment, but we first need to talk about the current race for the F1 World Championship. Hamilton went into the Turkish Grand Prix with a small lead at the top of the standings, but by the time it was all over, he was 6 points back of Verstappen after finishing 5th. Between 2015 and 2017, Hamilton won 3-straight races in the US, but he has not had a win since, although he did land on the podium in the last two US Grand Prix runs. That is still a solid record and helps to explain why he is the favorite coming into this weekend.
Max Verstappen (+140)
For the Dutchman, the finish line is in sight and the chance to win his first ever F1 world title is within reach. He will be well aware, though, that Hamilton is right on his heels and is not about to give up the crown just yet. Verstappen has been at the top for most of the season, but he is now on a run where he has not won the last 3 races. He did finish 2nd in two of them, though, and the other race, where he was forced to retire, came after a crash with Hamilton that saw them both knocked out of the running. The concern this weekend for Verstappen is that he has never won this race, although he has been up near the front just about every single time. A win here would really put the pressure on Hamilton with 5 races remaining.
Rest of the Pack
If you are looking beyond the top two drivers for a winner, then the best place to start would be with Valtteri Bottas, who won this race in 2019. He is in at odds of +1100, so a very solid bet indeed. For a complete longshot, how about Kimi Raikkonen, who won this race back in 2019? He is available at the ridiculous odds of +50000, so he may not be the best bet on the board.
