The Barracuda Championship returns to the Old Greenwood Course at the Tahoe Mountain Club in Truckee, California, right next to Lake Tahoe and the California-Nevada border. Beginning in 2022, the Barracuda Championship is a co-sanctioned event between the PGA Tour and the DP World Tour.
This tournament utilizes the Modified Stableford scoring system, a unique twist to scoring that rewards aggressive play. In this scoring system, the player receives +8 points for a double eagle, +5 points for an eagle, +2 points for a birdie, no points for a par, -1 for a bogey, and -3 for a double bogey.
Chez Reavie returns to the Sierra Nevada mountains to defend his title. Reavie accumulated 43 points, beating Alex Noran by one point. A year earlier, Erik van Rooyen set the tournament record with a four-day total of 50 points.
Let’s take a look at the top players for the 2023 Barracuda Championship so you can wager against their PGA Tour odds to win this golf tournament.

2023 Reno–Tahoe Open | 25th edition of the PGA Tour event
Tahoe Mountain Club (Old Greenwood Course) | Truckee, California
July 17th – July 23rd, 2023
The Old Greenwood Course
The scorecard shows a layout that runs over 7.400 yards in length and plays as a par-71. Sitting 6,000 feet above sea level, Old Greenwood is a bomber’s paradise. The large greens on the property offer ample scoring opportunities.
Accuracy off the tee will be paramount this week for the players. Many of the fairways are lined with large trees, and there are numerous bunkers littered throughout the property.
The Barracuda Championship Field
The best players in the world are teeing it up this week at the Open Championship in England, but there remains a solid field of players looking to change the trajectory of their professional careers.
Keith Mitchell is the highest-ranked player in the field this week, sitting 62nd in the official world golf rankings and 63rd in the FedEx Cup standings. Vincent Norrman, last week’s winner at the Barbasol Championship, looks to make it two in a row as he tries to lock up his second PGA Tour victory.
Reavie is joined by recent winners van Rooyen and Richy Werenski in the field. All three haven’t won on the PGA Tour since their victories in Tahoe, with van Rooyen and Werenski picking up their first and only wins here.

The Betting Favorites
The pre-tournament betting favorite this week is Stephen Jager (+1450). Jager has had a solid season at the age of 34 and continues to search for that first Tour victory.
Canada’s Taylor Pendrith (+1950) is next in line following Jager. Another player still on the hunt for his first win, the 32-year-old, comes to the Barracuda on the heels of a T14 at the Rocket Mortgage Classic and solo sixth at the Barbasol.
Mitchell (+2000) attempts to get back into the winner’s circle for the second time in his career. The 2019 Honda Classic winner made the trip across the pond for the Scottish Open but failed to make the cut.
Beau Hossler (+2100), Patrick Rodgers (+2200), and Mark Hubbard (+2200) fill out the betting favorites this week. All three players join the list of hopefuls looking to win for the first time. Each has tasted victory on the Korn Ferry Tour, but a win this week would secure their PGA Tour status for the next two years.
South America’s MJ Daffue, Lucas Glover, and Bhatia round out the top betting favorites at +2800 apiece. Glover is trending in the right direction after a T4 at the Rocket Mortgage and T6 last weekend at the John Deere.
