This may explain why there is such a strong group of players heading to the Muirfield Village Gold Club in Dublin, Ohio this weekend for the PGA Memorial. It certainly also helps that there is over $8 million in prize money up for grabs, including a cool $1.556 million for the winner of this tournament.

Dustin Johnson (+500)

Any time the top ranked player in the world competes in a tournament, he is automatically installed as the favorite. This has more than just because of his status, though, as Johnson has been red hot this season, seeming to be at or near the top of the leaderboard in every tournament he competes in. Dustin Johnson already has 3 wins on tour this season, as well as 6 top 10 finishes and over $6 million in earnings. It’s easy to understand why he is always the favorite when you look at those heady stats.

John Rahm (+1000)

The young Spaniard has been the nearly man this season, as well as being one of the most consistent players on tour. He only has one win on the season, but has been either 2nd or 3rd in 5 other tournaments. He has made 24 of 26 cuts this season, which is the epitome of consistency in this game. Rahm continually finds himself near the leaders on the final day, and he is eventually going to start racking up some wins. I like him to take the top prize this weekend.

Jordan Spieth (+1000)

The Texas native is coming into this event off a solid performance at the Dean and Deluca tournament last week, where he finished tied for 2nd. This is another player who has been consistently around the leaders in every tournament he has played, and he had racked up 6 top 10 finishes so far this season. His good performance last week may be a sign that he is ready to take a run at this tournament.

Jason Day (+1100)

This has been a rough season for Jason Day, as he appears to be understandably distracted by the health of his other, who is battling cancer. There were certainly some positive signs of his game turning around at his last event, The Byron Nelson, a couple of weekends ago, where he finished second. Day is always a legitimate threat at any tournament, and has to be considered a contender this weekend. It should be noted, though, that he has traditionally not played very well at this course.
