The Open Championship Odds Changes

The players at the top remain the same, but the odds have shifted slightly over the last week. Rory McIlroy remains the early favorite, and his odds have improved from +800 to +720. Scottie Scheffler has jumped Jon Rahm for the second spot on the odds board and can be grabbed at +880 one week out. Rahm’s odds dropped from +900 to +970 over the last week.

Brooks Kopeka and defending champion Cameron Smith saw their odds increase over the last seven days. Kopeka’s odds edged up from +1400 to +1350, while Smith saw a nice climb from +1800 to +1475.

Norway’s Viktor Hovland dropped from +1800 to +1825, while Jordan Spieth saw his odds increase from +2000 to +1850.

The Open Championship Betting Favorites

We touched on the top favorites above, but the clear favorites heading into next week’s major remains McIlroy, Scheffler, and Rahm.

McIlroy holds one Open Championship title, and it came on this course nine years ago. The four-time major winner held off Rickie Fowler and Sergio Garcia for a two-shot victory.

Scheffler and Rahm are major winners, but both vying for their first Claret Jug. Scheffler has found himself on the first page of the final leaderboard in 18-straight events, highlighted by victories at WM Phoenix Open and THE PLAYERS Championship. Scheffler finished T10 at Augusta, T2 at the PGA Championship, and solo third at the U.S. Open this season.

Rahm has played in just six events since winning his second major and first Masters title. The Spaniard’s best result in those six starts was a solo second at the Mexico Open. Rahm’s best finish at an Open Championship came two years ago when he finished T3, his only T10 in six starts.
