PGA Tour Honda Classic Odds & Betting Picks

Written by on February 22, 2017

After spending the first couple of months of the season out on the West Coast, the PGA is now heading east, with the Honda Classic the first tournament on the opposite coast. This is arguably the tournament that where the season starts to kick into high gear, especially since The Masters is now very much visible on the horizon. A field of 144 PGA pros are scheduled to take part, with the event being held at the 7,058-yard Par 70 at PGA National Champion Course, Palm Beach Gardens, Florida from February 23rd to the 26th.This course is regarded by many as one of the toughest on the PGA Tour, so don’t expect to see a ton of low scores after the 4 rounds have been played. Let’s look at the PGA Tour betting odds favorites, after which I will finish things up with my pick to win.

A Closer Look At The PGA Tour Honda Classic Odds & Betting Picks

Adam Scott (+1000)

The Australian Adam Scott is the current holder of the event, winning it last year with a final score of -9. This is no real surprise given that this is a course that rewards accuracy over distance. Scott led the PGA in greens in regulation last year, which suggests that hos game is suited to the difficulties of this course. Only 3 players have ever won this tournament twice, and you need to go all the way back to 1978 to find a back to back winner, with Jack Nicklaus being the man who did that. History would appear to be against Scott here.

Sergio Garcia (+1500)

Garcia has 3 events already under his belt in the 2017 season, with one top 10 finish already delivered. This is another player who is high on the list in the greens in regulation category, and when he is on his game, he is still one of the best players in the world. This is a nice price for a guy who is sure to be in the mix on Sunday.

Rickie Fowler (+1500)

Fowler already has a pair of top 10 finishes this season, and is boasting an average round score of just over 69. Fowler led the pack after two rounds at this event last year, and he has always performed admirably at this course. If he can close out in the final rounds this time out, expect him to best his 6th place finish of last year.

Louis Oosthuizen (+2500)

The South African is coming off a fine performance at the Waste Management Open in Phoenix Arizona where he finished third and posted a score of -16. He has played 3 tournaments this season and had shot under par in all of them, with his final score improving with each progressive tournament. He is one to watch here, and is my pick to win.

Russell Knox (+2500)

The Scotsman has been a busy lad, playing in 6 tournaments so far in the 2017 season. He was top 25 in 5 of the 6 events, and has already racked up over a million dollars in earnings for the season. I still see him as a longshot to win this one, but a top 10 finish seems to be in his future.
