2016 Preakness Top Winning Picks

Written by on May 16, 2016

Picking the winner of any given horse race is no easy task, but it gets even more difficult when you have a large field filled with horses that are among the best in the country right now. That is what you have to look forward to on Saturday, May 21, which is when the 141 st running of the Preakness Stakes will take place at Pimlico race track in Baltimore. For those of you who don’t regularly follow horse racing, the Preakness is the second leg of the Triple Crown, and this version of the race will see Nyquist try to build on hos winning performance at the Kentucky Derby. Trying to win a trio of major races in such a relatively short space of time is incredibly difficult, which is why we don’t see Triple Crown winners come along very often. Let’s take a look at some of the top winning picks that may be available to you inthe horse racing odds.

An In Depth Analysis on the 2016 Preakness Top Winning Picks

Nyquist

It’s impossible not to have this horse down as the favorite for the Preakness after his magnificent display in the Kentucky Derby. Nyquist has now won all 8 of the races he has run to start his career, and his bank balance is growing at an amazing rate. By all accounts, he has been working out well at the Pimlico track, and horse racing insiders believe that he has the potential to deliver a Triple Crown, which would be a marvelous feat. If you are looking at making some bank with a single winning pick, you may not like what Nyquist has to offer, as he is sure to be coming in at some pretty short odds.

Exaggerator

Very often with the Preakness we get a rematch of the Derby, as you generally get a number of horses running in both races. Exaggerator proved that he belonged with the big boys with an impressive 2 nd place finish at Churchill Downs. Horse racing is a funny old sport, and a less that impressive performance from Nyquist could open the door for a horse like Exaggerator. Even if he doesn’t win, he is certainly one to add to your exotics tickets, which we will discuss in another article this week.

Stradivari

If you are looking for a winning ticket that will hold some value, then look no further than Stradivari. The path that this horse has taken is similar to the one that Bernardini, who won the Preakness back in 2006. Stradivari has posted a pair of wins in his young career, and both were of the stunningly impressive variety. He had a win of close to 12 lengths at Gulfstream Park, and also had a 14 ½ length win at Keeneland is his last outing in April. This is definitely one to watch. Those are just 3 horses that may well give you a solid opportunity of cashing a winning ticket, but like I said at the start of this piece, every horse in this race had a legitimate shot at winning. You may want to take a closer look at some of the horses who skipped the Derby, as they are sure to be a little fresher than the others.
