Race 5 – 3:13 pm ET – 1 1/16 Miles Turf – $30,000 Claiming
Bourbon Currency has finished second in three straight. Often, that’s a bad sign that a horse likes to hang. But the Speightstown sired 5-year-old gelding barely lost in its last after stretching from 5 furlongs to a mile. The extra 16th of a mile should help this one for sure.
Trainer Ralph Nicks drops 6/1 on the morning line Cable Channel from the allowance ranks to this $30,000 claimer. Jockey Emisail Jaramillo should place Cable Channel in the second flight right behind speedsters Digital Footprint, Blameless, Lucky Mike, and Bad Beat Brian. If Bourbon Currency doesn’t have it, this one can take the win.
Blameless last raced in a $51,000 allowance. The Mike Matz trainee shows decent works leading up to this. Of the front runners, this gelding might be the one that hangs on for third.

Race 9 – 5:19 pm ET – 1 Mile Turf – $31,000 Starter Allowance
Champagne Bliss could upset at a huge price. The Into Mischief sired 4-year-old filly goes first time for Michelle Nihei. Michelle wins 20% first after the claim. Nihei put 3 works into this one from April 11 to April 29. Two of the works were on grass. Bliss should use its speed to stay close. If Michelle has worked her magic, the 20/1 morning line second choice could surprise. Don’t discount for the win.
There’s a lot to like about Augusta Moon. The morning line is a sweet 6/1, the Ronald Crichton runner picks up jockey Luis Saez, finished second in her last race by half-a-length, and had an awesome work on April 12. Moon is flexible enough to track if others want the lead.
Trainer Danny Gargan wins at a ridiculous 32%. Gargan runner Mike’s Girl has 3 wins and 2 fourth place finishes in her last 5. She’s got a big shot for the win on Thursday. But because Danny has rocked it at Gulfstream, the odds figure to be much lower than the 9/2 morning line.

Race 10 – 5:49 pm ET – 6 Furlongs Dirt – $16,000 Allowance Optional Claiming
Bion Magic failed big time in her last. The John Vinson trained 3-year-old filly finished eighth by 32 lengths. Bion didn’t respond to any of jockey Tyler Gaffalione’s cues. On Thursday, Miguel Vasquez, who rode this one in her maiden score, hops back aboard. There’s isn’t a ton of speed in this. If Vasquez gets the lead, he could nurse the 12/1 morning line to an upset win.
Lightly raced Royal Meghan has a win and 2 seconds in 4 lifetime races. The Fernando Abreu trained daughter of Uncaptured ran too fast early in her last. Jockey Angel Rodriguez might yield the lead to Vasquez aboard Bion Magic. That’s one of the reasons we make Meghan second behind Bion.
Flora Fantasy is the 6/5 morning line chalk. Trainer Jose D’Angelo wins 36% first after the claim. The chalk has a big shot. But before giving this one the victory, notice that the 6-year-old mare won her last couple. Three in a row is asking a lot.
