2017 World Series Odds Update & Betting Picks

The Favorite

Houston Astros 4/1The Houston Astros (42-16) have been the best team in all of baseball this season and they could be a lock to represent the American League this season if they continue to play the way they have so far. Houston Astros is ranked second in scoring (5.5 rpg), first in team batting average (.276), second in OPS (.816) and first in home runs (92) while also ranking second in team ERA (3.43), second in WHIP (1.19) and first in strikeouts (589).Diminutive second baseman Jose Altuve (.323, 8 HRs), shortstop Carlos Correa (.315, 11 HRs) and right fielder George Springer (.280, 16HRs) have all been phenomenal at the plate and staff ace Dallas Keuchel (9-0, 1.67 ERA) is the favorite right now to win the AL Cy Young award. Make no mistake about it, the Astros have the look of a team that could win the American League at the very least this season.

The Smart Pick

Chicago CubsThe Cubs (29-27) have struggled in the early going this season, but I have no doubt that they’ll get their act together in no time at all simply because they have too much talent for them not to. While the Cubs are ranked a modest 16th in scoring (4.6 rpg) and uninspiring 27th in team batting average (.235), Chicago is also ranked eighth in team ERA (4.00) and will start to rack up victories as soon as 2016 NL MVP winner Kris Bryant (.268, 12 Hrs) and the rest of Chicago’s prolific hitters start to swing the bat a lot better than they have so far.

The Value Pick

Washington Nationals 8/1Washington Nationals 8/1Not only are the Washington Nationals (36-20) the easy pick to win the NL East for the second straight season, but they’re offering some of the best value of any legitimate title contender there is. The Nats have been phenomenal at the plate this season and currently ranks first in scoring (5.7 rpg), first in team batting average (.278), first in OPS (.826) and third in home runs (86). Last but not least, Washington leads all of baseball in quality starts with 36 while ranking 14th in team ERA (4.15). Veteran first baseman Ryan Zimmerman is hitting an incendiary .372 with 16 home runs and 48 RBI while Daniel Murphy (.333) and Bryce Harper (.317) are both batting over .300.

The Longshot

Arizona Diamondbacks 22/1The D-Backs (34-25) have surprised out of the gate this season and rank 11th in scoring (4.80 rpg) and 10th in team batting average (.257) while also ranking a stupendous third in team ERA (3.62), fifth in strikeouts, and fifth in quality starts (30). First baseman Paul Goldschmidt has been rock-solid in batting .306 with 13 home runs with 45 RBI and a dozen stolen bases. Arizona looks like they’ll be locked in a race for first place in the NL West as they challenge the Dodgers for the outright NL West division title and a possible berth in the 2017 World Series. Here is a look at the complete odds to win the 2017 World Series.
