MLB 2022: Braves vs. Dodgers Odds & Lines Betting

The last time Dodgers three-time Cy Young winner Clayton Kershaw was on the mound, he was pulled from the game despite having pitched seven perfect innings. Kershaw does have a no-hitter in his career but not a perfecto. He’s back on the mound Monday against the Braves in a rematch of the 2021 NLCS. Let’s see the following analysis between Atlanta vs Dodgers for you to place your MLB bets.

How to Bet Atlanta at Los Angeles MLB Odds & TV Info

Why Bet on Atlanta?

Atlanta’s best player, outfielder Ronald Acuna Jr. (knee) is scheduled to begin his minor league rehab assignment at Triple-A Gwinnett on Tuesday. The superstar outfielder is progressing nicely in his recovery from surgery to repair a torn ACL in his right knee. Barring any setbacks, he’s expected to be ready to return in early May.

The 24-year-old Acuna in 82 games last year batted .283/.394/.596 (156 OPS+) with 24 home runs and 17 stolen bases. The torn ACL suffered in July injury prevented Acuna from partaking in the postseason, meaning he missed the entirety of the Braves’ improbable run to a World Series championship. The Braves are attempting to become the first MLB team to repeat as World Series champions in more than two decades.

When Acuna returns, and a target date is May 6, Marcell Ozuna is expected to move to DH and Eddie Rosario to left field, with the team hoping Rosario gets going soon as he’s in a major slump. Ozuna started the first eight games in left field and was -1 in DRS That was tied with six others for third-worst DRS in the majors at the position.

Since 2018, the Braves have hit 34 leadoff home runs, the third most in baseball over that span – much of that from Acuna. Only Los Angeles-NL (39) and Houston (35) have hit more Acuna has the second most leadoff home runs over this stretch, hitting 23. Only Toronto’s George Springer has more with 26. The Braves lead the majors with 108 hard-hit balls (those measured at 95 mph or higher, according to Statcast).

It’s Huascar Ynoa (0-1, 15.00) on the mound here. Ynoa struggled while allowing five runs over three innings in a loss to the Nationals last Monday in his 2022 debut. Ynoa was able to get through the first two innings unscathed, but gave up a five-spot in the third in his final inning. The 23-year-old gave up a two-run homer to Maikel Franco, but struggled throughout the frame to get his season off to an inauspicious start. The team opted to give Ynoa a few extra days of rest for his next start. He has never faced the Dodgers.

Why Bet on LA Dodgers?

The Dodgers are on a six-game winning streak after sweeping away the Reds on Sunday with a 9-1 home win. Freddie Freeman had four hits and three RBI, and Max Muncy, Will Smith and Chris Taylor had RBI doubles during a seven-run fourth on another dominant day for Los Angeles. The Dodgers hadn’t swept the Reds in a four-game home series since April 14-17, 1975 — exactly 47 years ago.

Trea Turner went 0 for 4 with a walk and a run, ending his career-best hitting streak at 27 games dating to last year. The 2021 MLB batting champion, who hit a 105 mph lineout to shortstop in the eighth, failed to get a hit for only the seventh time in 61 games since joining the Dodgers last season.

The Dodgers recalled pitcher Phil Bickford from Triple-A Oklahoma City on Sunday. Bickford was unable to win a spot in the Dodgers’ Opening Day bullpen after he was delayed in camp by a bout with arm soreness. Manager Dave Roberts said that Bickford will be restricted to appearances of no more than an inning initially.

It’s lefty Clayton Kershaw on the mound. Last Wednesday at the Twins, Kershaw was pulled with only six outs remaining in what was trending toward the first perfect game of his illustrious career. He had thrown 80 pitches with 13 strikeouts by the time he made quick work of the Twins in the bottom of the seventh. Many around MLB couldn’t believe that Roberts pulled him but Kershaw was making his season debut after an abbreviated spring training, on the heels of a winter when he didn’t pick up a baseball until January and following a season that saw him miss October because of an elbow injury.

“That’s a really difficult position to be in, on both sides,” Kershaw said. “At the end of the day, the only thing I feel bad for is, if I was a fan, I would want to see somebody finish the game. So, from a fan’s perspective, I do feel bad for that. I wish I could have done it. But it wasn’t the day.”

Kershaw recorded 11 of his 13 strikeouts vs. the Twins with the slider, the most with the pitch in any start of his career. The 17 whiffs on the slider were the third-most in a start in his career.

Kershaw face the Braves for the 13th time in his career and he is 5-1 with a 2.20 ERA (20 ER/81.2 IP) and 91 strikeouts against 20 walks. He suffered his first career loss to the Braves last season, allowing five runs in 6.0 innings.
