Dodgers vs. Padres NLDS Game 3 Betting Preview

Written by on October 13, 2022

In what feels like it could be an NLCS matchup, the Los Angeles Dodgers and San Diego Padres are squaring up to play game three of the best-of-five series. Both teams have one win apiece as the Padres will host the Dodgers for this Friday night game. Here is the complete preview for your MLB bets.

Not many people expected the Padres to have a chance to take the series lead in game three, but here we are. This is an NL West battle and an in-state rivalry that should put every baseball fan on the edge of their seat.

Padres In a Great Spot

Everybody and their grandmothers expected the Los Angeles Dodgers to take game one of the series against the San Diego Padres, but game two was the big game. Having a 1-1 tie and heading to a new stadium could really challenge the Dodgers. The Padres are in a perfect spot after the game-two win.

Going through the gauntlet of Julio Urias and Clayton Kershaw and walking away with a win is very impressive. The Padres have their No. 2 on the mound as Blake Snell looks to bounce back after a very poor outing against the New York Mets in the Wild Card series.

During the regular season, the Padres were 73-89 against the spread and a below-average 29-53 at home. For some reason, the Padres have played worse at home this year.

Gonsolin Does Not Lose

111 wins in the regular season, and it could all be forgotten in the blink of an eye. In a best-of-five series that is a 1-1 tie, game three is do-or-die for the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Anybody who bets on MLB knows that Tony Gonsolin simply refuses to lose games. The RHP is 16-1 this year with a 2.14 ERA and 0.87 WHIP. He is quite possibly the most underrated pitcher in baseball for the staff that has the best ERA and WHIP in MLB. In 12.2 IP against San Diego this season, Gonsolin has only allowed one earned run.

Gonsolin rarely loses on the mound, and the Dodgers rarely fail to cover the spread. They are 97-65 against the spread, which was the best record by an NL team. They were 50-27 against teams over .500 and were 80-37 on the moneyline during night games.

Betting Tips for Game Three

The Padres will go up against their first RHP as a starter from the Dodgers this series. Both teams have won a game thus far, and they have each put up eight runs. Snell walked six batters in his lone playoff start this year.

Snell has been inconsistent all year long, and Gonsolin has been a stud as the underrated pitcher he is. With all eyes finally on him, how will he fare?
