A recent report says the New York Mets might be willing to top Gerrit Cole’s $36 million average annual salary in a short-term deal for reigning NL Cy Young winner Trevor Bauer. The 30-year-old right-hander went a modest 5-4 with Cincinnati last season, but finished with a jaw-dropping 1.73 ERA to win the Cy Young. In nine seasons, Bauer is 75-64 with a 3.90 career ERA.

Didi In Demand

Veteran infielder Didi Gregorius is in demand as the only starting quality shortstop left on the free agent market. Reports say the Philadelphia Phillies and Cincinnati Reds have been connected to Gregorius recently. The slick infielder hit .284 with 10 homers and a .827 OPS in 60 games in 2020, playing the full season during his one-year deal with the Phillies.

Dodgers To Reunite With Turner?

The Los Angeles Dodgers could reunite with infielder Justin Turner. Reports say that Turner only wants to play for a contender, and the reigning World Series champions fit the bill perfectly. Turner has a .302 batting average, .503 slugging percentage and .886 OPS over his seven seasons with the Dodgers, and has been phenomenal in the postseason by batting .295 with a .507 slugging percentage and .899 OPS over 72 playoff games.

A recent report says that the market for former Cardinals second baseman Kolten Wong is heating up as we move closer to the start of spring training. St. Louis is among several teams who have checked in with the back-to-back Gold Glove Award winner. The 30-year-old Wong has played with the Cardinals in each of his first eight big league seasons. He suited up in 53 games in 2020, finishing with a .265/.350/.326 slash line and one home run.

Another report says the Brewers are continuing to listen to trade offers for star reliever Josh Hader.

Chicago Cubs third baseman Kris Bryant has been rumored to be on the trade block all offseason. Now, a recent reports says the 2016 NL MVP winner is drawing interest from the New York Mets and Toronto Blue Jays. The 29-year-old Bryant batted a dismal .206 last season in 34 games with four homers and 11 RBI. In 209, Bryant batted .282 with 31 home runs and 77 RBI in 147 games.

Marlins Looking At Santander

The Miami Marlins are reportedly interested in Baltimore Orioles outfielder Anthony Santander. The 26-year-old batted .261 with 11 home runs and 32 RBI in 37 games last season.

Red Sox set to add Hernandez, Richards

Last, but not least, the Boston Red Sox have signed veteran infielder Enrique Hernandez to a two-year deal. The free agent utilityman batted .230 with five home runs in 48 games with the World Series champion Los Angeles Dodgers last season.
