Padres vs. Dodgers Game 1 Betting Odds

Written by on October 10, 2022

After 162 electric games of baseball, the 2022 MLB postseason is already in full swing. With the new playoff format and a crazy Wild Card weekend, the NLDS and ALDS are set. Tuesday night, the best team in all of baseball, the Los Angeles Dodgers will battle the San Diego Padres, who just upset the New York Mets to advance.

In a battle of the West coast, the Dodgers will have the home-field advantage and will play game one at Dodger Stadium. The best-of-five series begins with all eyes on the state of California.

Padres Play Underdog

From the very moment the 2022 season began, the San Diego Padres were expected to be a threat to compete deep into October. To further push that narrative, they paid an arm and a leg to acquire Juan Soto and quickly become one of the scariest teams in all of baseball.

After playing all three games in the Wild Card series against the 101-win New York Mets, the Padres will have to resort to the back end of their rotation in game one. Yu Darvish, Blake Snell, and Joe Musgrove were all used in the series, so expect a guy like Mike Clevinger to take the mound, who has proven he can be a playoff pitcher.

During the regular season, the Padres were 73-89 against the spread but 44-36 on the road. In their three playoff games, they covered the spread twice and hit the over twice.

World Series or Bust for LA

If you are a Los Angeles Dodgers fan, you expect nothing less than a trip to the World Series. It all starts here for the Dodgers as their postseason journey begins in the NLDS against the No. 5 seed.

Having the best record in the NL allowed for the Dodgers to have a bye from the first round. They have all their pitching available and are at a huge advantage from the get-go. LA has Julio Urias and Clayton Kershaw to pick from for game one, which sure sounds scary for the team on the opposite side of the field.

The Dodgers had one of the best records against the spread in 2022 at 97-65. That is rare to see from a team that is always the favorite, but they have the best ERA and most runs per game on the offensive side.

Betting Tips for Game One

Check MyBookie for all the latest odds for game one of the NLDS between the Los Angeles Dodgers and San Diego Padres. This NL West rivalry is sure to be a fun game to watch and bet on at the same time.

The playoffs are meant to reward the better teams, and that will be shown in game one. Los Angeles has all their weapons to work with on the mound, but the Padres will come in with a lot of confidence after eliminating the New York Mets.

When it comes to covering the spread, the Dodgers were the best team in the NL to do so. In the regular season, the Dodgers won every series against the Padres but also covered the spread in 12 out of 16 games. The playoffs are all about the moneyline, but the Dodgers have proven all year long that they are machines when it comes to covering the spread. Expect LA to be the favorite in every game in this series.
