2022 MLB Power Rankings Betting Analysis Heading Into Week 16 of Season

2022 MLB Power Rankings Betting Analysis Heading Into Week 16 of Season

The All-Star Game is done for another year, and now it is back to the business of playing regular season ball games. Given that we had a shorter week, there is not a tone of changes to be found in the top and bottom 5 in the MLB Power Rankings, but we can perhaps expect that to change in the coming weeks. We are edging closer to the trade deadline, with teams preparing to make moves that will perhaps help them get an edge as the playoffs approach. The next few weeks are going to be fun to watch as things really begin to take shape, but for now, we are going to take our weekly look at the top and bottom 5 in the Week 16 MLB Power Rankings. Let’s jump right into action so you can continue making your bets against the MLB Odds.

Power Rankings After the 2022 All-Star Break | MLB Betting Picks

Top 5

  1. New York Yankees – The Yankees have set a torrid pace from the get-go and are currently sitting on 66 wins, which has them 12 ½ games up on the Blue Jays in the East. They are just 5-5 in their last 10 games, but still the class of the MLB at the moment.

  1. Houston Astros – There is a slight change at the top, with the Houston Astros moving up a spot from the #3 slot they held last week. That move comes on the heels of a 5-game winning streak to close out Week 16.

  1. LA Dodgers – Given that the Dodgers have won 8 in a row, it is perhaps a little surprising that they have dropped a spot this week. That said, their schedule has been more than favorable during this run as they built an 11 ½ game lead in the West.

  1. New York Mets – The Mets and the Braves are turning the NL East into a 2-horse race, but it is the Mets who have the lead right now. That lead, though, is just a game and a half, but they did recently have a big series win over Atlanta.

  1. Atlanta Braves – The Braves had the opportunity to close out the week with a series sweep of the LA Angels, but they were hammered on Sunday and ended up losing some ground to the Mets who closed out the week with a win.

Bottom 5

  1. Cincinnati Reds – While it is proving to be a long season for the Reds, their fans can take some solace in that they seem to be serious about rebuilding. They might well trade away Luis Castillo at the deadline to add some more pieces.

  1. Kansas City Royals – This is another team that we expect to see making some moves at the deadline as they look to add some talent to their roster. Last week ended quite well for the Royals, who closed things out on a 2-game win streak.

  1. Pittsburgh Pirates – While you can see some of the teams lower in the standings make moves to improve, it appears as though the Pirates are content to circle the drain. Their -141 run differential is second only to the A’s.

  1. Oakland A’s – This has already been a shameful season for Oakland, but things got even worse during the All-Star break. They sent Pail Blackburn out to the game on a commercial flight before the Astros stepped in and got him there on a chartered flight. Embarrassing for the A’s.

  1. Washington Nationals – No team in the league has fewer wins than the Nationals, which is all the more staggering when you consider this this team was the World Series winner in 2019. Oh, how the mighty have fallen.
