Colorado Rockies vs New York Mets Baseball Spread Preview

Written by on May 13, 2016

The great thing about the early part of the baseball season, for most fans at least, is that just about every team is still in the hunt. That will of course change as the weeks drag on, but for now, there are some tight races taking place in each of the individual divisions. In the AL East, it once again looks as though the New York Mets are going to be battling it out with the Washington Nationals for the division crown. Over in the NL West, the Colorado Rockies are doing a good job of keeping pace with the big spenders in that division, but it has to be said that their long-term battle looks a whole lot tougher than that of the Mets. These two teams will play a 3-game series over the weekend, with the second game in the series set for Saturday night. How To Bet The Mets vs Rockies MLB Odds, TV & Game Info

When: Saturday, May 14 at 8:10 PM EST Where: Coors Field, Denver Starting Pitchers: Mets: Logan Verrett (3-0) vs Rockies: Eddie Butler (1-1) TV: MLBN, ROOT MLB Odds: TBA

Why bet on the New York Mets

The Mets (21-13) are currently tied with the Nationals for the top spot in the NL East, and will almost certainly be happy to get back home once this series is over. This series will end an 11-game road swing for the Mets, who have gone 4-4 on it so far. That might be considered a little disappointing given how this team started the season, but when you still have a shot at ending a long road trip with a winning record, you really can’t grumble too much. The Mets have actually been better on the road than they have been at home this season, so you have to like their chances against a Rockies team that has been a little up and down so far. Logan Verrett (3-0, 1.27 ERA) will start for the Mets.

Why bet on the Colorado Rockies

The Rockies (16-18) have had a difficult time finding any sort of consistency through their first 30 or so games, and have now lost or spit 3 straight series. They are just 4-6 in the last 10 games, yet still find themselves just a game and a half back of the Dodgers and Giants atop the division. The problem so far for the Rockies has been their pitching, as they are sporting one of the worst team ERA’s in baseball. This is a team that can score in bunches, though, and it is Nolan Arenado who is once again leading the way in offense with 13 HR and an impressive .321 ERA. The Rockies will send Eddie Butler (1-1, 3.86 ERA) to the mound on Saturday.

My Expert Pick and Final Score Prediction

The Mets will be looking to end this long road trip on a high, and that can only happen with a series win. I think they will manage that, and I believe they will win this Saturday night tilt. New York Mets 5 Colorado Rockies 3
