Written by on April 22, 2017

Saturday night will be alright thanks to the trio of MLB weekend picks that you’re about to get! The Boston Red ox and Baltimore Orioles will square off in an AL East division matchup while the Washington National visit the New York Mets in an intriguing NL East battle. Last but not least, the defending World Series champion Chicago Cub will hit the road to take on the surprising Cincinnati Reds in a highly-anticipated NL Central division clash. Now, let’s find out where the value is in all three matchups. Find the latest MLB betting run lines here.

Top 2017 MLB Picks Of The Weekend For Saturday Night (April 22th)

Boston Red Sox (10-6) at Baltimore Orioles (10-4)

When: Saturday, April 22 at 7:05 PM ET Where: Oriole Park at Camden Yards, Baltimore, MD TV: NEN, WJZ, MASN Analysis: Boston will hand the ball to right-handed knuckleballer Steven Wright (1-1, 8.36 ERA) while Baltimore will go with left-hander Jayson Aquino. Wright got his first win of the season in his last start, by allowing three earned runs on nine hits and one walk in six innings after getting smacked around for eight runs by Baltimore in his previous start. The Orioles will hand the ball to Aquino as he make his first start of the season after making three relief appearances for Baltimore late last season. For this matchup, I’m going to urge you to take the Over as Steven Wright isn’t very good and neither apparently is Jay Aquino. A whopping 24 runs have been scored in Wright’s last two starts and that just tell me to expect more of the same in this AL East division battle. Pick: Over 9.5 Runs

Washington Nationals (10-5) at New York Mets (8-8)

When: Saturday, April 22 at 4:05 PM ET Where: Citi Field, New York, NY TV: MASN, SNY, FS1 Analysis: Heading into Friday night, Washington had won four straight and seven of it last nine games while New York had dropped five of its last six games. The Nats will hand the ball to gifted southpaw starter Gio Gonzalez (1-0, 1.33 ERA) and that’s a good thing seeing as how Gonzalez has not allowed more than two earned runs in any of his three starts this season while tossing at least six innings in each outing. The Mets were scheduled to start right-hander Jacob deGrom (0-0, 1.89 ERA) on Friday night, but he was scratched from that outing with a sore neck and manager Terry Collins said that de Grom’s status for this start is still “up in the air.” Right now, I don’t think it matters who takes the mound for the Mets in this affair seeing as how the Nats are on fire and the Mets are playing bad baseball right now. Washington has won six of the last nine meetings against the Mets and will make it seven out of 10 by getting the narrow road win if deGrom gets the start and a bigger win if New York I forced to turn to another starter. Pick: Washington 4 NY Mets 2

Chicago Cubs (8-7) at Cincinnati Reds (9-7)

When: Saturday, April 22 at 1:10 PM ET Where: Great American Ballpark TV: ABC, MLBN Analysis: Chicago won two straight heading into Friday night after losing their previous four games while Cincinnati dropped two of three and five of seven overall. Friday marks the one year anniversary of Jake Arrieta’s (2-0, 2.89 ERA) second career no-hitter, which, ironically, he accomplished against Cincinnati in a 16-0 Cubs win. Cincinnati left-hander Cody Reed (0-0, 0.00 ERA) has made some serious improvements out of the bullpen after going 0-7 with a 7.36 ERA in 10 starts last season. Reed has retired all 18 batters in his last three relief appearances. With Jake Arrieta limiting the opposition to three earned runs in each of his last two starts and the Cubs looking to get on track after some early struggles, I like the Cubbies to get the road win over their division rivals t send them a message that all roads to the postseason will go through them. Chicago has won six straight in this series and will make it seven in a row by getting the narrow road win against a Cincinnati ballclub that I struggling in a big way right now as they come back to earth following their inanely hot start. Pick: Chicago 5 Cincinnati 3
