Top MLB Expert Picks of the Week (Aug 22-28)

The Kansas City Royals, them of the MLB-best eight-game winning streak, are surging in the power rankings and are one of our MLB expert picks for the week. Check out the full list of our recommended MLB betting expert for the week, starting Monday, Aug. 22 to Sunday, Aug.  28.

Take a Look at the Top MLB Expert Picks of the Week (Aug 22-28)

Cubs at Padres (Monday, Aug. 22)

My Betting Pick: CubsThe Cubs are human after all. Having looked like they’d never drop a series in the second half of the season, the surging Rockies managed to end Chicago’s streak, winning two out three at Coors Field over the weekend. The Cubs should, however, be due for a bounce-back- -starting on Monday– as they go against the middling Padres. Jon Lester, in spite of his struggles this season, is a trustworthy arm and the fact the he will be getting support from Chicago’s solid bullpen should see him and the Cubs beat Edwin Jackson and the Padres on Monday night.

Royals at Marlins (Tuesday, Aug. 23)

My Betting Pick: RoyalsThe Marlins are a dangerous team to bet against, as they are capable of shocking up the MLB odds on any given day. The fact that we are talking about them in a matchup against the previously inconsistent Royals makes this pick even a bigger risk. Even so, Yordano Ventura has been one of the better starters in KC and the fact that he’l be facing right-handers (whom he’s played quite well against in the past) should make this matchup favorable for him. In addition, the Royals are the hottest team in baseball right now, entering Monday on an MLB-best 8-game winning streak and an overall 9-1 record in their last 10 games. So, although the Marlins have also been quite solid lately– winning the last three straight– and Andrew Cashner is never easy to beat in Miami, we strongly believe that Ventura and the surging Royals can ride their momentum into a crucial victory this Tuesday.

National at Orioles (Thursday, Aug. 25)

My Betting Pick: UNDER 8.5 TotalYes, the Orioles hit the ball like crazy and that often leads to high-scoring games, while the Nats equally know how to hold their own quite well in offense. That should probably mean a high-scoring game even when these two teams meet in the Beltway Interleague Series, right? Well, not necessarily, at least not on Thursday night. Washington’s ace Mark Scherzer (13-7, 3.05 ERA) is a strikeout machine with 200+ strikeouts to his name already in the season and his ability to deliver quality starts is always unquestionable because of that. On the opposite side, Chris Tillman has arguably been the best starter in Baltimore’s middling rotation, with a respectable 3.76 ERA and a 15-5 record, while allowing 3 or fewer runs in 7 of his last 10 starts. Combine those two starters against each other, you get a game that is likely to be a back-and-forth low-scoring affair.
