Baltimore Orioles vs St. Louis Cardinals

The Cardinals are 16-12 this season, but their recent performances have impressed even more than their slightly-above-.500 record. They have also done a nice job avoiding losing streaks regardless of who they are playing, and since they just lost the back-half of a four-game series with the San Francisco Giants— which they split in total— they are due for a win.

On top of that, St. Louis will be returning to the top of its pitching rotation at the start of the series, which will help them on the defensive end tremendously.

Baltimore is not that good of a team and has only managed to go 11-17, which is the fourth-best record in the American League East. Their hitting metrics are not terrible, but they give up too many runs and do not have much in the way of a clutch gene.

New York Yankees vs Chicago White Sox

The Yankees have rivaled the Mets for the title of the best team in baseball through the first month and change, and this does not seem to be an aberration.

The Yankees do not have the lights-out pitching that the Mets do, but their power bats are fearsome and capable of outperforming any team in the league on any given day. The Yankees recently went on an a 11-game win streak, so sustaining winning play is not hard for them.

The Chicago White Sox have been interesting to follow, first starting the season hot, then going on a massive losing streak, and now winning six straight games. Despite how up-and-down they can be, they have not proven they can consistently compete with the top powers in the league, so until they do, the Yankees are the better bet.
