As we enter the final 2 weeks of the 2017 MLB regular season, the playoff picture is starting to take shape. No less than 4 teams have booked their ticket into the postseason, which means that spaces are becoming very limited. This is especially true in the American League, where the Wild Card race still remains quite wide open, with the AL East title also still up for grabs. Minnesota Twins vs. New York Yankees
The Yankees are as good as in to the playoffs, as they have a solid 4-game lead in the first Wild Card spot. They will not have given up on winning the AL East, though, as they are still just 3 games back of the Boston Red Sox. If it is going to be the Wild Card for the Yankees, though, then this series may well serve as a preview, since the Twins are currently in the final spot. If we are being perfectly honest, the Milwaukee Brewers may well be the only team with a legitimate shot at catching the Colorado Rockies for the final Wild Card spot in the National League. They are 2.5 games back of the Rockies heading into this week, and need a strong outing against their division rivals in this series if they are to close the gap. The WC looks like their only way in at this point, as the Chicago Cubs are on a 6-game winning streak that has given them a 4-game lead in the Central Division. The Angels are currently 2 games back of the Twins for that highly coveted spot, and would probably have preferred an easier series to help them get back into the picture.
