In fairness, they are starting the season with a number of key players on the DL, and fill-ins like Dan Uggla and Tyler Moore are doing little to help the cause. Help is on the way, though, as Jayson Werth is expected to return for the series versus the Red Sox. Stephen Strasburg will take the mound for the Nationals on Tuesday, and he will need to be a whole lot better than he was in his first start versus the Mets. He gave up 9 hits in just 5.1 innings, and is now sporting an ERA over 5. The hot bats that the Sox are flashing early on could make that number worse.

The Boston Red Sox are a team that many believe could do the worst to first flip in the AL East this season, and they are currently on top with a 4-2 record after the first week of play. The Red Sox will have taken some real pleasure in winning their series over the Yankees, but they will be coming away with a bit of a sour taste in their mouths after getting blasted 14-4 in the final of the 3 games. One real positive that Boston can take from the first week is their ability to manufacture runs. They are leading the league in walks right now, and are finding ways to get those runners in. Justin Masterson (1-0) will get the start on Tuesday, and will be looking to build on the solid outing he put in during his first start.
