Analyzing The Winning 2017 MLB Parlay Picks For The Coming Weekend (May 19th)

Milwaukee Brewers (24-18) at Chicago Cubs (21-19)

When: Saturday, May 20, 2:20 PM ETWhere: Wrigley FieldTV: FSWI, MLBN, CSN-CProbable Pitchers: Milwaukee – Chase Anderson – R – (2-0, 3.43 ERA) / Chicago – Jake Arrieta – R – (4-3, 5.44 ERA)Analysis: Heading into Friday night, Milwaukee had won three straight, six of seven and eight of their last 10 games overall. While Chicago also won three straight heading into Friday night, the Cubs are just a modest 5-5 over their last 10. For this contest, I’m going to urge you to back the streaking Brewers to deliver a message to their NL Central division rivals and World Series champs.Milwaukee right-hander Chase Anderson gave up four earned runs on six hits and three walks in just 5.1 innings of a 6-5 loss to San Diego the last time out and has allowed an identical four runs in three of his last four starts.Still, with Chicago’s Jake Arrieta getting smacked senseless recently, I like the Brewers explosive offense to get the job done. Arrieta has allowed 12 earned runs over 15.2 innings in his last three starts and gave up four earned runs (including two homers) in Chicago’s humbling 5-0 loss to St. Louis the last time he took the mound.

DYK Moment

Did You Know that Milwaukee’s Eric Sogard’s 4-for-4 performance on Thursday made him the first MLB player to go 4-for-4 or better twice in the same series since Andre Ethier in 2012?The Brewers are 7-1 in their last 8 games vs. a right-handed starter and 4-1 in their last 5 road games while Chicago has gone a surprising 2-5 in Jake Arrieta’s last 7 Saturday starts. Keep it simple and back the Brew Crew to get the road win.Pick: Milwaukee 6 Chicago 4Cleveland Indians (20-19) at Houston Astros (29-12)

Cleveland Indians (20-19) at Houston Astros (29-12)

When: Saturday, May 20, 4:10 PM ETWhere: Minute Maid ParkTV: SportsTime Ohio, ROOTSWProbable Pitchers: Cleveland – Mike Clevinger / Houston (1-1, 2.61 ERA) – Mike Fiers (1-1, 5.75 ERA)Analysis: Heading into Friday night, Cleveland had dropped two straight while Houston was riding a four-game winning streak into the weekend. Houston has also won nine of their last 10 and looks like the easy pick to get the win and Run Line cover in this one as Cleveland’s Mike Clevinger is scheduled to make his third start of the season after being called up for the injured Corey Kluber. The 27-year-old right-hander gave up three earned runs on three hits and five walks against Minnesota in his las start, but that’s not the reason Houston is the right pick in this one. No, the Astros own right-hander,  Mike Fiers has struggled all season long and got smacked around for four earned runs in 5.2 innings of an 11-6 loss to the Yankees the last time he took the mound. The main reason to back the streaking ‘Stros is that they’ve been smacking the cover off the ball recently and should do the same against the mediocre Clevinger. Prior to Thursday’s 3-0 shutout win against Miami, the Astros scored a whopping 29 combined runs over their three previous games while scoring seven runs or more each time out and topping 10 runs twice. The Indians are just 2-5 in their last 7 games, 1-4 in their last 5 games vs. a right-handed starter and 2-5 in Mike Clevinger’s last 7 starts. On the flip side of the coin, the Astros are 6-1 in their last 7 home games, 12-3 in their last 15 home games vs. a right-handed starter,  25-8 in their last 33 games overall and 13-5 in Mike Fiers’ last 18 home starts. Houston wins going away.Pick: Houston 8 Cleveland 4

Colorado Rockies (26-16) at Cincinnati Reds (19-21)

When: Saturday, May 20, 4:10 PM ETWhere: Great American Ball ParkTV: ROOTRM, FS-OProbable Pitchers: Colorado – Antonio Senzatela – R – (6-1, 3.31 ERA) / Cincinnati – Tim Adelman – R – (2-2, 5.27 ERA)Analysis: The Cincinnati Reds had lost six straight games heading into Friday night while Colorado had their three-game winning streak snapped on Thursday.Despite the Rockies’ loss the last time out, Colorado is the easy pick in this Saturday matchup with rookie right-hander Antonio Senzatela on the mound. The hard-throwing 22-year-old was touched up for four earned runs against the Dodgers in 5.0 innings in his last start, be he limited both Chicago and San Diego to an identical two runs in his previous two starts and has one of the best young arms in all of baseball.Conversely, Cincinnati right-hander Tim Adelman left his last outing because of tightness in his neck after giving up three earned runs in just 1.0 inning of work.  The right-hander has been wildly inconsistent this season despite going 2-0 with a 3.43 ERA at home as compared to his 0-2 mark with an 11.37 ERA on the road.Still, with the Rockies scoring at least five runs in each of their three games prior to Thursday and topping that figure five times in their last six wins, I believe Colorado will get to Adelman early and often to get the road win and improve on their fine 13-6 road record. While the Reds are 6-1 in their last 7 home games, Cincinnati has also gone 0-5 in their last 5 games vs. a right-handed starter while the Rockies have gone 5-1 in their last 6 Saturday games, 4-1 in their last 5 road games and a near-perfect 7-1 in Antonio Senzatela’s last 8 starts. Colorado wins by two runs minimum to cover the Run Line.Pick: Colorado 5 Cincinnati 3
