MotoGP Betting Analysis for the 2020 Portuguese GP

All things considered, winning the World Championship is an amazing feat for a rider in just his second season in MotoGP. Last year, Mir finished 12^th in the overall standings, so to say that his leap to first is a surprise is putting things rather mildly. The Spaniard has just one win on the season, but it was his overall consistency that put him on top, as he had 6 podium finishes as well as that lone victory, including a run of 5 out of 6 podium finishes coming down the stretch. He continued to pick up big points and chip away at the riders in front of him before taking the top spot a couple of weeks ago. A deserving champion indeed.

Franco Morbidelli

After winning the Moto2 championship back in 2017, the obvious next step for Morbidelli was to head on up to the top level of racing. His final standings have improved with each passing year, but the way in which he has finished this season suggests that he might be a rider to watch in 2021. Morbidelli won last week in Valencia, which was his second win in just 3 weeks. It was a little to late to take a run at the World Championship, but it certainly helped serve notice that he is a rider to be reckoned with in the coming years.

Alex Rins

This is another rider who got stronger as the season went on and who looks like one to watch next season. Rins has been knocking on the door for the past couple of seasons, finishing 5^th overall in 2018 and 4^th overall last season. If he can maintain his current 3^rd place standing, it will be another step forward for the Spaniard. Recent form suggests he can do just that, as he has a win and 3 other podium finishes over the past 6 weeks. He just missed out on the podium last week in Valencia, finishing 4^th.

Maverick Vinales

With so many races held in Spain this season, it is perhaps no surprise that we have a trio of Spanish riders currently occupying the top 4. This is a familiar spot for Vinales, as he has finished either 3^rd or 4^th overall in each of his last 4 seasons. He has cooled off a little coming down the stretch, though, so he is going to need a good ride this weekend in Portugal if he is to hold on to his top 4 spot, or perhaps even move up a spot.
