The first race of the 2021 NASCAR season is in the books, and if that one is anything to go by, we are in for a thrilling year. The Daytona 500 had more than its fair share of thrill and spills, with Michael McDowell eventually coming out on top. Rather than moving on to the next track and the next race, the drivers will once again be in Daytona, where they will tackle the road course this weekend. There is a lot going on over the course of the next 3 days, with the Truck Series and the Xfinity Series also running at Daytona. Let’s take a closer look at the 3 races on tap this weekend so you can get all set to bet against their NASCAR odds.
All NASCAR Daytona Events for the Weekend
Truck Series – BrakeBest Brake Pads 159 – Friday
It will be the trucks who will hit the road course first, with their race scheduled for Friday night at 7:30 PM EST. It is Sheldon Creed (+400), the defending Truck Series champion, who is in as the favorite this weekend. He is coming off a top 10 finish last weekend, which is sure to be a little disappointing. John Hunter Nemecheck (+475) was also a top 10 finisher last weekend, while Brett Moffitt (+550) rounds out the top 3 favorites. If you are looking for a longshot pick, last week’s race winner, Ben Rhodes, is in at a very tasty +2000.
Xfinity Series – Super Start Batteries 188 – Saturday
One of the toughest things to do in any sport is to repeat as a champion, but Austin Cindric has already served notice that he wants to win it all again this year. He won in the opening race of the season at Daytona last weekend and is in as the favorite again on Saturday at odds of +140. It was a good start to the season for AJ Allmendiger, who cracked the top 5 last week and starts at +275 this weekend. Rounding out the top 3 favorites for the Super Start Batteries 188 is Noah Gragson, who is currently sitting at +600.
Cup Series – O’Reilly Auto Parts 253 – Sunday
It is going to be tough to top the craziness of last weekend, where a final lap crash allowed Michael McDowell to sneak in and get the win. We can, though, expect a different kind of race, as the drivers will be on the Daytona Road Course on Sunday afternoon. There are a couple of reasons why Chase Elliott (+170) is in as the favorite. We all know that he is the defending Cup Series champion, but he also has 5 road course wins in his career, including one at this very track.
While Martin Truex Jr. (+400) has not won on this particular road track, he does have 4 road wins in his career, so he is certainly worth a look at this price. One to watch at very nice odds is Kyle Busch (+750). He is coming off a disappointing season, but this is another driver who always seems to do well on road courses, with 4 wins in his career.
