There are some who would suggest that the NASCAR Cup Series playoffs have been a little anticlimactic to this point. After all, we went through 3 races in the Round of 16 with 3 different winners, none of whom made the initial cut of 16. No one drive has stepped up and set the tone in the postseason, but this could just be a case of drivers playing it safe in hopes of picking up points and moving on. With the field now down to 12, you get the sense that someone needs to make a move soon if they are to separate from the pack and make a run at the championship. This weekend, the Round of 12 begins in Texas with the AutoTrader EchoPark Automotive 500. Let’s take a look at the current favorites to see who might come out on top so you can bet against the NASCAR Odds.

NASCAR Cup Series Betting Preview for the 2022 Auto Trader EchoPark Automotive 500 Race

Chase Elliott (+300)

After going on a tear that saw him win 3 of 5 races, Elliott cooled off a little coming down the stretch in the regular season. He made a slow start to the playoffs, but gathered steam through those opening 3 races, closing out the Round of 16 with a 2nd place finish in the night race last weekend. This is a driver who knows what it takes to win a championship, which he did in 2020, so he is in good position to make another deep run. He ran 7th in this race last season, so every reason to believe that he will be among the leaders on Sunday.

Denny Hamlin (+450)

We said that no driver in the playoffs has really made a mark in the postseason, but Denny Hamlin might go ahead and argue that point. He finished 2nd in the opening 2 races of the playoffs and closed out the Round of 16 with a top 10 finish last weekend. That nice run of form has him sitting in 6th overall at the moment, but he would like to move up and make his passage into the Round of 8 a little more comfortable. He finished outside the top 10 in Texas last season, but his current form suggests he might do better here.

Kyle Larson (+620)

The defending champion was pretty much unstoppable on his way to a Cup Series Championship last season, but he has not had it all his way this time around. Still, Larson has a pair of wins on the season and has been getting progressively better through the opening 3 races of the playoffs, closing out the Round of 16 with a top 5 finish in Bristol last weekend. This is not a driver to write off at any point, and when you consider that he won in Texas last year, he might be the man to wager on this week.

Joey Logano (+800)

It has been a strange sort of season for Logano, as he has quietly gone about his business, delivering a pair of wins and consistently doing enough to stay among the leading pack. At this point, he is in 2nd overall and very much a dark horse coming down the stretch. He has not been great in the playoffs to this point and did not have a great run in Texas last time out. Still, he might be worth a look as a top 5 finisher on Sunday.
