NASCAR 2022 Cup Series: Pennzoil 400 Betting Odds & Analysis

Written by on March 4, 2022

It’s always a little jarring to look at the NASCAR Cup Series driver standings and see some of the bigger names missing from the top spots. I’m not sure many people would have had Cup Series newcomers sitting on top after making the move over from the Xfinity Series, but we do need to remember that the season is just getting started. Things have a way of evening themselves out and allowing the cream to rise to the top, but the start to the season has still been a little surprising. This weekend, we will have a trio of races in Las Vegas, with the Cup Series taking their usual Sunday slot on the schedule. Let’s take a quick look at some of the favorites for the Pennzoil 400 so you can place your bets against the NASCAR Betting Odds.

NASCAR Cup Series Betting: Pennzoil 400 Race Preview

Kyle Larson (+350)

The defending Cup Series champion did not see his season get off to a great start, with Larson finishing 32nd at the Daytona 500. The proof of the cream rising to the top was proven last weekend, though, when Larson rebounded to take his first win of the season. That is sure to have served as a warning shot to the rest of the field, and it may be about to get even more ominous this weekend. Larson seems to enjoy racing at the Las Vegas track, as he won there last year and also has another couple of podium finishes in his recent runs.

Chase Elliott (+650)

Elliott is one of those drivers who always seems to tale a minute to get warmed up at the start of a new season. That has certainly been the case for Elliott in 2022. He did okay at the Daytona 500, finishing 10th in that one, but he was never really a factor last week in California. There were a pair of races in Las Vegas last year, and while he was not a factor in the first one, Elliott put in a 2nd place finish in the second run during the playoffs.

Joey Logano (+750)

Whenever it comes time to wager on a NASCAR race, I always look out for drivers who have had success in a specific race. With that in mind, you have to look at Logano as a legitimate threat, as he has won the Pennzoil 400 in 2 of the last 3 years. He did not get off to the best of starts to the 2022 season, failing to crack the top 20 at the Daytona 500, but he bounced back nicely with a top 5 finish last weekend. I would be very tempted to put a few bucks on Logano to at least finish top 5 this weekend.

Tyler Reddick (+800)

You do have to say that it’s a bit of a surprise to see Reddick in among the favorites in this one, as he has yet to pick up his first career Cup Series win as he heads into his 3rd full season. He has also not made the best of starts to the season, but perhaps the bookies are looking at Reddick’s run at Las Vegas in the playoffs last season, where he finished 6th in that one. I think he is a little overvalued here, though, so I would probably pass.
