Early NASCAR Daytona 500 Betting Odds and Analysis

Written by on February 14, 2022

The new NASCAR season is upon us, which means that all our attention this week is on Daytona and how things might play out in the season opener. We will be paying a lot of attention to the big race and will revisit it later in the week, but we thought it might be a good idea to get a look at the early odds for a race that tends to throw up some surprises. Keep in mind that these odds could potentially change as the week progresses, especially since we have a pair of duel races coming on the Dayton track a little later in the week. Those races could well have an impact on how the bookies view the Daytona 500, which is why we will have another look at the race later in the week. For now, let’s take a look at some of the current favorites.

NASCAR Betting Predictions for the 2022 Daytona 500

Denny Hamlin (+900)

It is always great to get the new season off to a fast start by winning arguably the most iconic race on the Cup Series schedule. Denny Hamlin has made a bit of a habit of getting out to that great start, as he has won the Dayton 500 in 3 of the last 6 years, while also adding on a couple of top 5 finishes as well. He is a proven performer at the Daytona track, and you have to feel that he is coming into this season with something to prove. He has been into the top 4 with a chance to win it all in each of the last 3 seasons, but he came up a little short both times. Could this be the season he takes that next step, starting with a win at Daytona?

Kyle Larson (+1100)

It was a season to remember for Larson in 2021, as he drove away as the Cup Series champions after delivering a truly dominating performance all season long. He was great all season long, but he took it up a notch in the playoffs, winning 4 of the last 5 races of the season. You do, though, have to wonder how he is going to top what he did last year. Will that momentum carry over into the new season or will he see a dip in form? We won’t know on the basis of a single race, and with 7th being his best finish in the Daytona 500, can we really expect a lot from his first run of the season?

Chase Elliott (+1100)

It was a big year for Elliott in 2020, as he delivered a breakthrough season that saw him win the Cup Series. He came up a little short last year, getting into the final 4 in the playoffs and taking 4th overall. The season started well for him though, with a 2nd place finish at the Daytona 500 how he got the ball rolling. It was his best performance of his career in that race, so is that a sign that he is ready to compete for the season opening win again this year?

Ryan Blaney (+1200)

This is a drive that has consistently been in the top 10 in the standings over the years, but can he take a step forward in 2022? Blaney has never win the Daytona 500, but he has finished in 2nd twice, so you can understand why the bookies have him in the mix.
