With the NASCAR season starting up this weekend, all eyes are on the Daytona 500, with a ton of money already wagered on the Daytona 500. We have covered that race from top to bottom, but we also think it’s a good idea to look at the big picture before the 2021 season gets underway. Chase Elliott had a breakthrough season last year, but can he come out and repeat as champion this time around? There are a lot of races to be run before we get to that answer, but you can bet that every NASCAR fan has an opinion on who will end the season as champion. The bookies do, too, and as the season progresses, the odds to win are going to change. Now may be the best price you get on the driver you like, so let’s take a look at some of the favorites and their current NASCAR Championship odds.
Last Minute Odds To Win the 2021 NASCAR Cup Series Championship
Chase Elliott (+500)
Like it is in every other sport, the defending champion is usually the one who starts the season as the early favorite. That is how it is for Chase Elliott, who won it all last year by staying consistent throughout and getting big wins at vital times in the season. It is never easy to win a championship in consecutive years, but Elliott is a supremely confident and talented driver who has a real shot at dominating this season. With 5 wins and 22 top 10 finishes in 2020, you would certainly like him to come in and start out strong.
Kevin Harvick (+500)
If I am being honest, I believe I may have suggested that Harvick has the championship all but one before we even got into the playoffs last season. It wasn’t a ridiculous call to make when you consider how dominant he had been all season long. He had the most wins (9) and the most top 10 finishes (27), yet he somehow managed to miss making it into the final four. Harvick is going to feel as though he has some unfinished business to attend to, which is why I think he is a very good bet this time around.
Denny Hamlin (+500)
There are a lot of drivers who have a legitimate shot at winning it all this season and you would have to say that Denny Hamlin certainly deserves to be on the list. Hamlin will be looking to make history this weekend by being the first driver to win 3 consecutive times at the Daytona 500. If you were to ask him, though, you can bet that he would happily forego that accolade if it meant that he could go on and win a championship. He was close last season, getting into the final four but coming up just a little short.
Joey Logano (+600)
Logano is another driver who put in great performances at the right time last season, ending up finishing third in the overall driver standings. He will be looking to improve on the 3 wins that he delivered last season, and when you consider that he finished in the top 5 12 times in 2020, it’s not that difficult to imagine that he might be able to turn some of those close calls into wins and a championship.
