NASCAR Truck Series: Race at North Wilkesboro Odds, Analysis & Prediction

Written by on May 17, 2023

This weekend, the NASCAR action shifts to North Carolina for a full weekend of racing. We will, of course, be covering all the action, but we are going to get started by taking a look at the NASCAR Truck Series betting analysis. This will actually b the first of back-to-back races in the state, but before the drivers head to Charlotte for the next race on the schedule, they will need to handle a rather unique track at the North Wilkesboro Speedway, a track that features uphill and downhill portions. While the Cup Series drivers will be taking part in the All-Star Race on this track, the Truck Series will be having their 10th race of the season in what is proving to be a tight race at the top. Let’s take a look at some of the drivers who could be in the hunt this weekend.

Zane Smith

There is going to be some real guesswork going on this weekend, as this is a track that NASCAR has not visited since 1996. That should level the playing field a little, so you have to assume that Smith will very much be in the hunt, as he has been all season long. Smith is the defending Truck Series champion and is leading the way again this season, although his lead at the top is by a mere 9 points. Smith has already won a couple of races this season, but he is coming off a poor showing at Darlington last weekend, finishing 22nd overall. Look for a bounce back performance here.

Ty Majeski

Majeski came into the season as one of the favorites to walk away as the Truck Series champion, and while he is currently sitting in 2nd in the driver standings, you do have to say that we have not seen the best from him just yet. In fact, Majeski is still looking for his first win of the season, although he does have a couple of podium finishes under his belt. The last couple of races have been particularly disappointing for Majeski, so you have to wonder if he will snap out of that or have another poor showing this weekend.

Ben Rhodes

Over the past couple of seasons, no driver has been as consistent as Rhodes, who followed up a championship season in 2021 with a 2nd place overall finish last year. He will, though, be less than pleased with how things have gone this season, as he too is still looking for his first win. Stanger still, though, is that he has finished outside the top 10 in 4 of the 9 races this season, which is not what we would have expected from him. You do get the sense that he will get in a groove, so don’t overlook Rhodes this weekend.

Christian Eckes

This is just the 2nd full season in the Truck Series for Eckes, who is looking to improve on a very respectable 8th place finish in 2022. Right now, he is sitting down in 5th overall and has had some difficulty with consistency this season. That said, he has had some very good moments, including a pair of wins, one of which came last weekend in Darlington. He always strikes me as a bit of a risky bet, but I would be willing to go with him finishing in the top 5 in this race.
