As we head towards the month of October, we are looking at the NASCAR season beginning to wind down. This, though, is where the action is at its wildest, as this time of year means that we are into the playoffs. We will get into the Cup Series race in a separate article, but for now, let’s focus on the Truck and Xfinity Series races. The weekend begins on Friday with the Victoria’s Voice Foundation 200 in the Truck Series. That will be followed up by the Alsco Uniforms 302, which is part of the Xfinity Series schedule, on Saturday. There is a lot of ground to cover with both of these races at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Let’s get right to it so you can get ready to bet against the NASCAR odds.

NASCAR Xfinity Series and Truck Series events for the Week

Truck Series – Victoria’s Voice Foundation 200

History has shown that anything can happen once we get into the playoffs. That was certainly the case last weekend, with Chandler Smith winning his first ever Truck Series race to get into the Round of 8. This race will serve as the first of 3 before the field is cut in half and we get down to the final four, so it’s all to race for this weekend.

You can look at John H. Nemechek’s past performances in Las Vegas and immediately count him out but given his win there earlier this season shows that he is a very different driver in 2021, and one that many see as a favorite to win it all.

Sheldon Creed saw his win streak end at 2 last weekend with a poor showing in Bristol. He finished 19th in that race, but that was certainly a blip on what has been a very good season. He has been in the top 5 in 2 of his last 3 runs in Vegas.

Ben Rhodes ran in the top 10 at Vegas earlier this season and had a win there back in 2017. One to keep an eye on here.

Xfinity Series – Alsco Uniforms 302

It’s a huge weekend in the Xfinity Series, as this race marks the start of the playoffs, which will commence with the Round of 12. The drivers will now have 3 races to stay alive and move on to the Round of 8.

Defending champion Austin Cindric ended the regular season on top of the driver standings after accumulating 5 wins. He is always a threat to win, and he had a decent run at Vegas earlier this season, finishing 4th in that one.

The man who beat Cindric to the finish line in Bristol last weekend was AJ Allmendinger, who picked up his 4th win on the year. He has to be considered a legitimate threat to start the playoffs with a win, as one of his other victories this season came at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

While it might look as though the current top two are set to battle it out in the playoffs, there are a few drivers who could challenge for the title. Justin Allgaier has to be in that mix, as he has been consistently good all season. He has a decent enough record in Sin City, so do not count him out.
