We are roughly one month away from the start of the Xfinity Series playoffs, with the Round of 12 starting in late September. There are 4 races remaining for the drivers to try and get hot and get on a run that might well take them all the way to cup winner. There is a lot of racing to come before someone can claim the Xfinity Series crown, though, so for now, it’s all about continuing to rack up points and jockey for position ahead of the playoffs. There are some definite favorites emerging right now, but history has shown that fortunes can change dramatically coming down the stretch. This weekend, the Xfinity Series will be in Daytona for the Wawa 250. Let’s take a closer look at the current favorites for that race along with their NASCAR Xfinity Series odds.
NASCAR Xfinity Series Betting Preview for Wawa 250 Race
AJ Allmendinger (+800)
The Xfinity Series is often where we see younger drivers learn their craft, but it is 39-year-old AJ Allmendinger who looks set to take a run at the championship this season. He had had a great year to this point, but he is also beginning to get on a hot run of form that cannot be ignored. Allmendinger won last weekend, which means that he now has a win and a pair of 2nd place finishes in his last 3 races. Overall, he has 3 wins on the season and is sitting just off the pace in 2nd in the driver standings. This season began with a couple of races in Daytona, with Allmendinger finishing 5th and 35th in those runs.
Austin Cindric (+800)
As you can see, there are 4 drivers all sitting with the same odds heading into the weekend. This suggests that they all have an equal shot at winning this race, so selecting the winner means trying to look for reasons why one stands out above the rest. In that case, we need to take a serious look at the defending Xfinity Series champion. Cindric is once again sitting at the top of the driver standings and has more wins (5) than any other driver this season. More importantly, though, he has been outstanding at Daytona, winning twice and finishing 2nd in his last 3 runs at that track.
Christopher Bell (+800)
After two full seasons in the Xfinity Series, where he finished 3rd and 4th overall, respectively, Bell made the jump to the Cup Series for the 2020 season. His year there has been good to this point, and he already has a win under his belt. That victory in the Cup Series is important, as it came at Daytona, where he will be racing this weekend. This will be his first foray into the Xfinity Series this season, but you have to like him to be among the leaders.
Justin Haley (+800)
It could certainly be argued that the 2021 Xfinity Series season is a bit of a backward step for Haley. After all, he is coming off a season where he picked up 3 wins and finished 3rd overall in the driver standings. Right now, he is down in 5th and still looking for his first checkered flag of the season. One thing to keep in mind is that one of his wins last year came at Daytona, which is probably why the bookies like him this weekend.
