The NBA season is well past the halfway point, and many teams are deciding whether or not they’re going to be buyers or sellers at the trade deadline, or if they’re just going to go with what they have. Teams are gathering players to help their stars out so that they can make an extended playoff run. In looking at the standings and player statistics, we’ve compiled a list of the top players in the league at this point in the season. Let’s rank the top players in the NBA as of today. Since LeBron James, Anthony Davis, Joel Embiid, and Stephen Curry are injured at this point, they will not be included on this list. With that in mind, let’s get right to it so you can keep placing your bets against their NBA odds.
Player Power Rankings Up to Date | NBA Betting
1. Giannis Antetokounmpo
The Bucks are climbing up the Eastern Conference standings, and much of it is due to the play of Antetokounmpo. He’s averaging 29 points, 12 rebounds and six assists per game. If he is hitting from the perimeter, he’s very hard to stop.
2. Nikola Jokic
According to league statistics, no one player makes more of a difference for his team than Nikola Jokic. When Jokic isn’t on the floor, the Nuggets aren’t a very good basketball team. Jokic is nearly averaging a triple double with 27 points 11 rebounds and eight assists per game. He’s one of, if not the best passing big men in league history. He makes things happen, and he is the reason that the Nuggets are in the playoff hunt.
3. Kawhi Leonard
When Leonard is locked in, he is one of the top players in the world. He could very well be the best two way player in the world, as he can influence the game with his defense just as much as his offense. He’s currently averaging 25 points, six rebounds and five assists per game.
4. Luka Doncic
The Mavericks have been on a roll as of late, and their improved record can mostly be attributed to the recent play of Doncic. Donicic is currently averaging 28 points, eight rebounds, and nine assists per game. Now that the Mavericks are getting healthy, teams aren’t able to key on Doncic as much, as he’s getting everyone else involved, and not forcing the issue.
5. Damian Lillard
Lillard could make a case for the MVP award. Portland is climbing up the Western Conference standings, and Lillard is leading the charge. He’s averaging over 30 points per game, with four boards and seven dimes per contest. He is one of the best crunch time players in the league, and can score when a bucket is needed.
6. James Harden
Now that Harden is on the Nets, he is becoming more of a “team” player. Many experts are calling for Harden to win the MVP award. His scoring is going down, but his assists and rebounds are increasing because he has better players surrounding him, and he’s willing to surrender some of the scoring duties. This could very well be Harden’s best season as a complete player.
