NBA restarts this week

The National Basketball Association resumes their 2019-2020 regular season this Thursday. The NBA has two games that day. First, the Utah Jazz takes on the New Orleans Pelicans. In the second game, the Lakers battle the Clippers.

Things have been okay in the NBA Orlando Bubble. Although there have been a couple of hiccups, for the most part, NBA players, coaches, and personnel haven’t run into roadblocks.

The best sixth man in the league, Lou Williams, must miss games, though. Williams got an excuse to leave Orlando. Williams must now spend 10-days in quarantine before playing.

We won’t go into details because they don’t matter. Let’s just say that Lou decided to spend some time doing something recreational that’s against the NBA’s Orlando rules.

Zion Williamson left the bubble to attend to a family situation. Williamson, the most hyped player to enter the league since LeBron James, should practice with the New Orleans Pelicans on Wednesday.

Odds drop on Rockets, Pelicans, Thunder, and Blazers

A healthy Zion is a big deal. It’s so big, in fact, that the Pels are one of the big movers to win the NBA Championship.

Check out a list of the other big movers on MyBookie. We add some reasons why we think action is going to these four teams.

New Orleans Pelicans +8000 – The odds on the Pels make them a longshot to win the championship. They aren’t a major underdog, though. The reason money has gone to New Orleans? Zion Williamson has skills for days. He’s already one of the best players in Orlando without having played a full season. Not only that, but the supporting cast, Lonzo Ball and Jrue Holiday, Brandon Ingram, and Derrick Favors, are all capable.

Houston Rockets +1300 – An argument can be made that the Rockets boast the 2 best point-guards in the NBA. Heck, and argument can be made that the Rockets boast 2 of the top 5 players in the NBA. If both Russell Westbrook and James Harden play at a high-level, few teams can beat Houston.

Oklahoma City Thunder +8000 – There won’t be a more cohesive squad in the Orlando Bubble. Chris Paul worked with the league to develop the NBA bubble concept. Paul is the unquestioned leader of the Oklahoma City Thunder. Also, there’s no deeper team in the league. The Thunder is one of the few teams that can play a second team for long stretches, ala what the Golden State Warriors did during their championship seasons.

Portland Trail Blazers +8000 – Two words, one name, Jusuf Nurkic. The Blazers boast the top starting backcourt in the league. CJ McCollum and Damian Lillard are on every night. Nurkic was hurt. The hiatus has allowed him to get back onto the court. With Nurkic, the Blazers now have a devastating inside-outside game.
