Brooklyn Nets become favorites to win the 2021 NBA Title

Because the Los Angeles Lakers have struggled, and because LeBron won’t return to the lineup until early May, about a week before the playoffs, the second choice Brooklyn Nets are now the first choice to win the 2021 NBA Championship.

As of March 30, the Nets are 32-15 and tied with Philadelphia for the best record in the Eastern Conference. No doubt, Brooklyn can win the title, which is why they’ve become a +260 choice while the Lakers have gone from +250 to +280.

The teams offering the third and the fourth lowest odds are the Los Angeles Clippers at +420 and the Milwaukee Bucks at +650.

Lakers and Clippers make moves

The two Los Angeles teams made moves that they hope keep them competitive in the deep Western Conference. The Lakers signed center Andre Drummond. The Clippers traded Lou Williams to the Hawks for Rajon Rondo. LAC is also hoping to sign Boogie Cousins.

We’ll start with Drummond. Marc Gasol has been a major disappointment. Montrezl Harrell is a good player, but he doesn’t have the size or defensive abilities that Drummond possesses.

Supposedly, LeBron and Anthony Davis were involved in this signing. For Andre, going to the Lakers makes a lot of sense. Once James and AD are back on the court, Los Angeles becomes a championship contender.

While LeBron and Davis are off the court, Drummond can shine. He immediately becomes the Lakers best player while LAL’s two superstars get healthy enough to return to the lineup.

The Clippers traded for point guard Rajon Rondo. LAC gave up Lou Williams to get Rondo. Right now, the Clippers are suffering through a few injuries. But once everyone is healthy, Rondo will definitely help LAC challenge for the top spot in the West.

Nuggets and Heat become contenders after grabbing top players

The Denver Nuggets got a lot better by trading for former Orlando star Aaron Gordon. Over in the Eastern Conference, the Miami Heat also got a lot better. The Heat scored a four pointer after acquiring Trevor Ariza, Victor Oladipo, Kendrick Nunn and Nemanja Bjelica.

Denver is undefeated at 2-0 since Gordon arrived. On April 1, the Nuggets take on the Los Angeles Clippers. LAC is banged up, Rajon Rondo, Patrick Beverly, and Serge Ibaka are out while Paul George and Marcus Morris Sr. are listed as day-to-day. Still, a Denver victory over Los Angeles will boost their confidence.

The best part? Denver doesn’t have to play Gordon more than 22 to 25 minutes for him to make an impact.

Miami made out like bandits. Last year’s Eastern Conference winners are loaded heading into the final month. Erik Spoelstra is likely to start Nunn at point guard and Oladipo at shooting guard.

By bringing Goran Dragic, Trevor Ariza, and Tyler Herro off the bench, Spoelstra can play a second starting five. Dragic, Herro, and Ariza are starters on many other NBA teams.

Spoelstra is a masterful basketball coach. Miami is currently in sixth place. Don’t be surprised if they climb to fourth behind the Nets, 76ers and Bucks. Who knows? The Heat could climb all the way to second if the Sixers and Milwaukee implode.
