Heat superstar Jimmy Butler showing what it means to be underrated

The vaunted Milwaukee Bucks are down 3 games to 1 to the unheralded Miami Heat. Although most believe it’s a shock, the fact is that Miami is the overall better team. We must just study how Jimmy Butler has played in the 4 games to realize that.

JB scored 40 in the Heat’s 115-104 Game 1 victory. In Game 2, Jimmy dropped just 13 and the Heat beat Milwaukee 116-114. J-Butler made the game-winning shot to grab the Game 2 victory. Miami beat the Bucks 115-100 in Game 3 when Butler scored 30. Milwaukee finally got a win in the series in Game 4, 118-115 in overtime. In that game, Butler scored 17.

When Butler goes off, the Heat win by a wide-margin. When Jimmy doesn’t, the Heat can still beat the Bucks. What this tells us is that Milwaukee still doesn’t know the best way to guard Jimmy Butler.

It also tells us that Butler is taking his shots when he can. He’s not forcing his game to pump the stats sheet. Butler’s patience is one of the reasons the Heat’s first loss during the playoffs happened in Game 4 against the Bucks.

On Sep. 8, Miami should close the door on the Milwaukee Bucks. Butler won’t force anything, but Milwaukee almost lost Game 4, and did lose Game 3, by containing JB. In Game 5, expect the Heat to adjust to whatever way the Bucks decide to play Jimmy Butler.

Lakers look tired, Clippers now favorites to win the NBA Title

One Los Angeles team could be in some trouble. The Lakers beat the Houston Rockets 117-109 in Game 2 to tie the series 1-1. But it took a gargantuan effort from LeBron, 28 points, 11 boards, 9 assists, 4 steals, and 2 blocks, for the Lakers to win.

Can LeBron possibly keep up that kind of pace against the run and gun Rockets? Maybe, The King can. More than likely he won’t. All five Houston starters scored in double-figures in Game 2. Also, the Rockets won the third quarter 41-23. It took the Lakers to win the fourth quarter 27-17 for the 8-point win. Expect Houston to come out with a different strategy in the fourth for Game 3.

The other Los Angeles team, the Clippers, look solid. That’s why LAC is now the favorite to win rings. The Clipps are up 2-1 over the Denver Nuggets. They beat the Nuggets 120-97 in Game 1. LAC got past Denver 113-107 to win Game 3.

The Los Angeles Clippers have hit their stride. They should beat Denver twice in the next two to three games.

Raptors offer overlay odds, Celtics or Heat deserve most attention

At +1500, the Toronto Raptors offer overlay odds to win the NBA Championship. The problem with backing Toronto? They’ve beaten the Celtics twice in the past eight head-to-head matchups.

Boston has a 3-2 lead heading into Game 6. The Celtics have the requisite starting five and bench to beat a team like the L.A. Clippers. That makes Boston a solid choice at the odds to win the championship.

The top pick, though, should be the Miami Heat. As long as Jimmy Butler continues to show why he’s one of the top five players in the NBA, Miami is the team to beat. Why? Erik Spoelstra has already won a championship and, like most Pat Riley teams, the Heat have more chemistry than any other squad in the league.

Have a great week!
