NBA Playoffs 2022: Dallas vs Golden State, Odds Game 5 Preview & Predictions
The Golden State Warriors failed to sweep the Dallas Mavericks out of the NBA’s Western Conference Finals with a Game 4 road loss, but the Warriors are solid home favorites on the NBA odds for Game 5 on Thursday to finish the job.

Why Bet on Dallas?
The Mavericks saved their season for one more game with a 119-109 home win in Game 4 on Tuesday by shooting 50 percent from the field and making 20 of their 43 shots from three-point land.
Dorian Finney-Smith had his best game of the series with 23 points on 9-for-13 shooting with six rebounds. He was responsible for four of the team’s 20 3-pointers, and the 23 points were one shy of his total in the first three games of this series combined.
Reggie Bullock and Maxi Kleber combined to shoot 0-for-15 for zero points in Game 3 but both were way better in Game 4. Bullock shot 6-of-10 from the field for 18 points. Kleber recorded a line of 13 points, eight rebounds and three blocks. By comparison, Kleber accounted for totals of six points and seven rebounds in Games 1-3.
Star Luka Doncic has his typically great game with 30 points, 14 rebounds and nine assists, although he was just 10-for-26 from the field. The first-team All-NBA guard finished one assist shy of a triple-double. Dallas’ bench could not maintain a 29-point lead, with Golden State managing to pull to within eight points before falling. As a result of this failure, Doncic had to re-enter the game, meaning that he missed out on what would have been some welcome time on the bench. Doncic has now scored 30 or more points in five consecutive elimination games to start a career. That’s the most by any player other than Elgin Baylor, who did it eight times.
Dallas finally won the rebounding battle 44-42. That rebounding differential may not sound like much. But after the Warriors battered the Mavs on the boards in Game 1 (51-35), Game 2 (43-30) and Game 3 (47-33), it was a big difference.
Now that the Mavs have finally won a game in this series, they believe they can win more.
“Everybody in that locker room felt like we had more basketball to play,” forward Finney-Smith said. “We just wanted to get the win by any means necessary and I feel like we came out desperate in that first half. We just made shots and we also kept getting stops. So we got the chance to play a little faster and we got them open shots early in the shot clock and not like at the end of the shot clock and trying to shoot a bomb.”
Why Bet on Golden State?
The Warriors have laid an egg in an elimination game in the previous two series but then rebounded the next game at home to close out Denver and Memphis. Stephen Curry finished Tuesday’s 119-109 loss with only 29 points along with eight assist and five rebounds. Curry now has 100 20-point games in the playoffs in his career. He is the 16th player in NBA history to reach the century mark. Of those 16 players, 11 of those are in the Basketball Hall of Fame and the five on that list that aren’t include LeBron James, Kevin Durant, Dwyane Wade, Dirk Nowitzki and now Curry.
Klay Thompson had just 12 points in 28 minutes. Thompson has struggled to become a factor in the current series against the Mavericks and has surpassed the 15-point mark just once in four games. He’s shooting just 34.2 percent from three-point range over his last 10 games. The entire Warriors starting lineup played pretty poorly Dallas took a 29-point lead into the fourth quarter. He and the other main options were on the bench as the Warriors rallied during the final frame, with the visitors pulling to within eight before Dallas finally closed the door.
The Warriors are averaging 49.0 points in the paint in the 2022 Western Conference Finals vs. the Mavericks, the third-most for the Warriors in a single playoff series since 2015. Draymond Green has scored in double figures in four of the last five games, averaging 10.0 points per game in that span. The Warriors are 5-2 in the 2022 playoffs in games Green scores at least 10 points.
Jordan Poole is shooting .611 (22-36 FG) from the field in four games in the Western Conference Finals. After missing three free throw attempts in Game 3 of the First Round vs. Denver, Poole has made 35 of his last 36 free throw attempts (.972), including his last 17 (15-of-15 in this current series).
The Warriors are 8-0 at home in this year’s playoffs, the best home record of any time. Including the regular season, the Warriors have won their last 10 games at Chase Center. The eight-game home winning streak in the playoffs is the second-longest in Warriors franchise history, trailing a nine-game win streak in 2017.
In Game 5, the Warriors have a 26-23 all-time record, including 12-4 since 2015. In series-clinching games, the Warriors have a 44-26 all-time record, including 20-10 record since 2015. Since 2015, the Warriors have a 21-8 record following a playoff loss.
